Not even gift cards. Fuck Amazon, fuck Walmart and Target, and fuck the chicoms that manufacture that junk. The rest of my family did not send gifts either. We will gather and eat as always, but the commercial Christmas died this year for us and I feel fine.

My wife and I didn't buy gifts for each other. We literally don't need anything, and weren't in the mood.
We decided to just give our two kids and grand kids checks, which they will probably appreciate more than crap anyway.
We are doing our normal Christmas dinner, etc.
I'm tempted to try a few new candy recipes. I don't need the calories and they seem a bit speculative, but cheap enough ingredients to try. Supposedly you can make peanut butter chocolate fudge by combining choc icing and a jar of warmed peanut butter then chilling.
Love it!
I bought pocket constitutions to hand out to friends and family, those are made in america.
I support this idea. 👍
I never really do gifts at Christmas. It's more a time for us all to get together and share the cool shit we've accumulated for ourselves over the year. Play board games together, watch movies together, big family meals, that kind of stuff.
But for me, and many of my relatives, Time is more important than Money or Possessions. We work hard, and give a lot of time to surviving and building up, so the real celebration is having time to NOT have to be constantly busy.
That said, you CAN get stuff made in America at the Walmart, at the very least. What sells well is bought more, so enough people doing that would shrink Chinese Crap's presence in the stores, which would then limit everyone else's exposure to Chinese Crap, which would stem the tide of hemorrhaging money to China.
How do you find the made in USA stuff there? It used to be a big thing when Sam Walton was alive, but his heirs brought in Chinamart stuff.
Not being a jerk, but just look at the label or somewhere on the box. The whole 'designed in the USA' or 'assembled in the USA' is usually a dead giveaway it's NOT made in the USA. Some housewares stuff you definitely have to look. The way they source their private label items is 'whatever's cheapest', usually. So, some Great Value pillow case that's white might be made in the USA, but the next set of GV pillowcases is made in China. Certain plasticware, like Rubbermaid food containers are now made in the US, but you still have to look since it isn't always the case. You definitely have to root around more than usual, but it's worth it. Many things at Walmart, though, are never made in the US. The usual suspects like electronics and such.
Thanks. I was wondering if I missed a searchable term on walmart.com or something, but good to know that even different colors of housewares can be made in different countries
Yeah, online is next to impossible the way they list items. I'm only talking about physically looking at the items in-store. Merry Christmas! There's several sites like usalovelist and others that can point you to specific made in USA items.

Thanks! Merry Christmas!
You've got to check packages, and do prior research. Pretty much anything Wal-Mart branded is from Xinzhao or some other Bathole, but if you know what you're looking for, you can find it.
Buy from small businesses yo
This. I work for a very small business, and we've been greatly encouraged by everyone who has made the effort to buy our goods in spite of all the markets and bazaars being closed down - every single purchase strengthens our hearts and keeps us going.
I did the same thing - I spent more than i normally would have too.
For Christmas, we have been doing a white elephant, but instead of buying a gift, you were required to make a gift. No kits allowed. All the gifts were really special and everyone seemed to enjoy those.
That said, those aren't the only gifts we have, but maybe you could incorporate that fully.
I'm having a similar reaction to Christmas. The government picked winners and losers this year. Coofs are highly infectious and deadly at every family owned business. So I'll pass on the Amazon avalanche of gifts.
I have a niece and nephew who are 10 year old twins. They each got .22's this year. Its a family tradition.
I got my parents a gift card to a local restaurant
Same. No idea when it will be open again for indoor dining, but I tried. (Got other stuff too.)
Went to ealmart to pickup some gifts, were 8 months prego.
All the baby books are made in chengaen China or some shit. Didnt buy any.
We neeed to make things in America. Can I invest in American manufacturing please.
Yeah, the baby chews on the book paper and gets cancer in 8 years...fuck the chinese crap. When my kid was small, I almost made the mistake of buying her some wooden blocks with numbers and letters painted on them. I saw they were made in China and didn't really care at the time, but thought better of it. A month later was when they recalled a bunch of items like those because the paint was lead paint. I swear the CCP does it on purpose to poison our children.
What about Ebay? I shop there, because it's a bunch of individual sellers. I just choose "United States" only when searching.
I bought tins of Beaver Nuggets from Buccees for all my business accounts. Local company that's getting big.. but is still small. They pay their people well.
Got some for my dad too. Because "Father Loves Beaver"
Same here! I gave 1 healthy gift of cash to the main person who makes my little business possible, and that's it. I've been boycotting Amazon for over 4 years now. Fuck them & fuck Chyna! 🖕
consumerism christmas is bullshit, created by big corporation to dupe our money
Well done.
Hit em where it hurts.
Make your own stuff.
"Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more." -- pepe with heart condition.
My wife and I quit buying gifts for each other years ago, we always ended up returning or not using the stuff, and this year we only got the kids a few things that we know they will use, not a bunch of random stuff.
Gave cash to granddaughter. Cards to fam and frens. Home cooked dinner planned for DH and myself. Keeping old fashioned values and the true meaning of the season alive. Merry Christmas!
This is the third year I made Christmas presents for all family and friends. I buy Ball jars and make jams, preserves, sauces, etc throughout the year (with produce from road stands when things are in season) and give them as gifts. Homemade, usually one of a kind and always delicious. It feels way better giving something personal that I know they'll enjoy rather than some product.
Y'all could've at least made each other macaroni art
We are spending money on local businesses by buying gift cards. Feed store, restaurants, work clothing stores. Just seems right to support local.
Me and my wife and daughter will have zero gifts under the tree. The teen boys get a new phone and the granddaughter gets a ton. For the first time in a long time we are not going into debt for Christmas. Feels nice man.
This is the smartest post I have seen today. They made Christmas all about consumerism. Let's take it back and not buy presents ever again. Since becoming a Christian 6 years ago, I told my family I do not want presents and I will not be giving presents. All I want is to be with family to spend time with the ones I love. Not letting lockdowns stop me either. Jesus is the reason for the season.
We didn't buy any gifts this year either, we're just getting together for a meal, board games, maybe an old classic Christmas show. In our case it's because this year no one has any money, but I still kind of like it.
That's fine because Christmas is about family, community, Christmas spirit, religion, etc. We didn't do gifts either (except for new dishwasher :) ). I hope you will at least enjoy a great Christmas lunch/dinner.
Only one in my family that gets gifts is my 5 year old nephew. And my Bernie Bros brother spoils him rotten. I got him two coloring books and something I 3D printed to remind him his heritage. He won't appreciate it now but I hope he does when he's older.
We're doing Christmas as usual, lots of gifts, tree, decorations, and dinner. I won't let Christmas be ruined by Chyna. I guess I'm also lucky to live in a deep red state that doesn't have a lot of restrictions. Did a lot of shopping at local shops. No new normal!!
Glad I'm not alone, I too have said any gifts I give will be to charities of their choice if I agree. I was done with the whole spend money on junk years ago, but this year, I took it a step further. Let's celebrate the lords Birthday with friends and family and push away the evil consumption of junk. I have ll that I need, food, ammo, critical thought, self awareness, Jesus, and you my fellow Patriots.
Me too! No gifts! F the commies!
Bought only made in USA gifts this year. Not sending my money willfully to countries like China that hate us.
I bought myself a new fishing pole and fishing pole accessories and A LOT of bait. I just gace my wife wife card to buy herself whatever she wants. I'm terrible at buying gifts
I gave my kids cash. My 29 year old son bought himself some ammo.
same
i bought things patriots buy instead
I bought food that I normally would not buy, pretty exotic stuff from local farms and business. My fav has been habernero garlic cloves that I made a queso dip with and will be used for stuffing.
I made cookies and as gifts.
I have not shopped in big box stores since 2015. I buy from local thrift stores.
Now that our family has so many grandkids we decided this year to just do one big white elephant gift exchange. Took such a burden off the Christmas season! More time to just play and be merry. Only one gift to buy, one gift to wrap and it doesn’t have to be specially picked for anybody.
I bought my children to much because... Covid-21 Civil Disobedience on an unprecedented scale Dollar degrading to toilet paper Succession WW3
I feel like I'm in the opposite category.
My sibs decided several years ago that we'd only do gifts for the old folks and the kids....but one particular sister in law kept sending gifts anyway and slowly that particular attempt at a tradition died and I ended up embarrassed being the only one who didn't get anything even though everybody kept saying "no gifts". So this year I got all the adults Jewlery or Beer Cash candles: http://www.jewelrycandles.com
But sadly my mom has completely bought into COVID-1984, so I don't think I'll be seeing any family this year. :(
The only person who should get gifts on Christmas is Baby Jesus.
I always try to DIY gifts, but also like to shop at craft fairs or support local businesses. My family normally gives each other food based gifts.
Support small business. All our shopping this year was local. Good people are hurting and can use the business.
Check out the Whitehouse Christmas ornament.
