I mean it's pretty simple. It's good politics for Dems since their base wants the checks, and it puts pressure on McConnell who opposes the checks but is scared of defying Trump.
I'm past caring about the politics. Just pass something for people who need to feed their kids and pay rent. It will likely pass in the House on Monday. Mitch better step up for once.
An uncomfortable fact is that most of this foreign aid was requested by Mnuchin and Pompeo :/. Personally I hate the foreign aid bullshit but if the $2000 relief passes the foreign aid would be like 0.1% of the budget.
It seems we're getting the best of both worlds on Monday though, so we'll see.

Unanimous consent motions may be blocked by the Minority Leader. And even then a single House member is enough for it not to pass.
It seems as a response Democrats are joining GEOTUS in introducing a standalone pork-free $2000 bill on Monday. We'll see.
He is working to cut the foreign aid crap the Democrats put in. They hate America and refuse to put American citizens needs as the only priority.
The Dems are happy to add the $2000 ON TOP of sending billions to foreigners though.
