Everyone is different and entitled to their own opinion. In my view, twitter is a little different -- anyone can look up tweets from the username and see if the tweet is there to confirm it for themselves. You have the equivalent of the URL right there.
My personal preference is to embed the tweet here in the post so that anyone can click and go straight to it, but some people have a strong and valid opinion that is just driving traffic to twitter. So people have complaints about however you post twitter (aand even in the fact that twitter gets posted way too much).
I've had this discussion with the user you were responding to, and that user holds the opinion that the link needs to be posted, and you seem to agree, which is fine. I only point it out because I think both points of view are valid and also because everyone has their own ability to check the validity of any tweet if they choose.
