I’m happy in the South. If I ever want to be depressed and miserable again I’ll just move back. Back to where everyone thinks their shit doesn’t smell and that everyone is out to get them. Back to where it’s WEIRD to say hi or to say a prayer for someone. Back to the cliques and the materialism. Back to a shit economy, with shit for jobs, skyrocketing housing, rich people who laugh at poor people and a governor who’s a virtue signaling karma whore to the very people who don’t give a single fuck about him.

Nah, I’m good. I’ll stay here.

EDIT: I want to thank every single one of you pedes who are commenting and telling me your stories. I want you to know that I have read every single comment thus far and I will continue to do so until my post dissolves into oblivion. My heart is touched. This move was big for me and it means a lot that I can give a platform to people who can share their thoughts and experiences. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I'm in Texas and nobody would care either. They care whether you're neighborly, friendly and considerate.

The bigotry is a lie sold by the media to keep us apart.

Moved from Chicago to Texas over 20 years ago. I can say without qualification that Chicago is 50 times more racist than Texas. And I've lived all over Texas, in the cities, suburbs & out in the country. Texans love everyone.

I've only been in Texas for 6 years after moving around too, and I concur. Really wonderful state, and a revelation after a lifetime of hearing Texas jokes and remembering how the media craps all over it.

The Big Bang Theory comes to mind.

Yep! You're so right! Sheldon always talks shit about Houston, but in reality Houston is more progressive than Chicago in many ways. It's much more contemporary, WAY more great restaurants, etc. I stopped watching Big Bang because of that.
