Simulation theory is IMO, science wanking.
If everything is a simulation, and it does not effect us in any way,
and we can't effect it in any way, and we have no way of confirming.
Did anyone learn about the Allegory of the Cave in school? Simulation theory sounds like the same idea coached in a different way.
