I normally support natural medicine 100% but both me and my baby would've died if I'd have gone the midwife route. Ended up with emergency c section when baby's heart rate dropped after I pushed for 9 hours.
Ugh I’m sorry you had such a difficult labor. I completely agree with you. I wanted a medication-free birth so badly- my husband and I even took Bradley method classes for hours a week for months. But then I ended up having to be induced and was in active labor with my water broken for over 72 hours and pushed for about 3 hours (I have no idea how you did 9!)
So while I think completely natural births are favorable and I wish I didn’t have to be induced, I’m just grateful that my son and I are alive. Oftentimes the medical assistance doesn’t make it easier at all.
I'm sorry you had that birth experience! It sounds so tough! While i don't know your situation, I would argue that having a skilled midwife would have prevented that situation. Out of hospital births with a knowledable midwife are likely to be very aware of baby's position and do everything they can make sure baby is in the optimal position for birth. Midwives who do out of hospital birth are very incentivized to have a low risk and healthy birth. I know it's too late to change your experience, but just want to give some insight for others who may be considering other options. I've done a hospital birth, birthing center, and home birth so I've seen the pros and cons of each option.
When my wife delivered our girls (1st and 3rd) both deliveries took about 10 minutes. Didn't have time for drugs the first time, and I delivered my daughter in my hallway the last time.
No drugs needed.
My son on the other hand, she was in labor for so long the drugs wore off and they couldn't give her more.
Yes!! And do a natural birth without drugs. It's the way the lord intended ✝️

Yep, something doesn't add up here.

Thanks for sharing that. 💕
