I had a funny lay-a-way receipt from Walmart I found blown up in our yard I wanted to show my sister and maybe post here but lost track of it. I showed my dad. Told him I didn’t know lay-a-way was still a thing at Walmart. It was big business at Christmas when I worked there out of high school. My dad told me they used it every Christmas to hide the presents from us. We went looking when home alone back when 8 year olds could be home alone. Never could find the presents. Now I understand more about why we had a dozen trailers behind the store full of layaway merch.
What is lay-a-way? Serious question.
Lay-away is when a store will let you pay for products over time. It's short for "lay it away".
The store sets it aside for pick-up when the customer has money to pay later or over time.
