As someone who hasn’t seen combat, I still think it’s an important point that far too many people here are far to cavalier about the possibility of bloodshed. Just this week we’ve had threads about preparing for armed insurrection and threads about which parts of the DC metro are dangerous or which hotels people are staying in. Clearly everyone isn’t on the same page, and when we have people talking about violence, it’s concerning that not everyone sounds prepared for it.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m in no position to take up arms and forcefully win our country back. If my choice is full armed conflict or the beginning of a Biden administration, I take the latter. Not proudly, necessarily, but honestly.
We do ourselves a disservice by ignoring the peril of violence. Even if a shot isn’t fired in my state, will the economy work? Supply chains? Could I make it through winter with what is in storage and on my land?
I’m not saying that violence may not be necessary, just that we’d do well to make sure we’ve each come to terms with what that means for us, personally, and how we envision ourselves contributing.
