If the rumors are true there is a war going on behind the scenes. Sabotage, secret arrests, secret raids, secret courts, deal making, rendition flights to gitmo, and so on. The fighting may burst into the topside public if the military can't contain it.
Foolish to think that they are just sitting on their thumbs, waiting for enemies of America to give up on their own.
Public arrests of politicians has a lot of risks, and could turn the public against POTUS and the military, and cause a real war between leftist countries who come to their aid. That would be the very last step, to mop up, after the head of the international power structure is decapitated.
IMO, it might even be a better idea to just leave the politician pawns alone and to mainly go after the anonymous elite in secret only.
I wouldn't go blowing anybody's head off, but yes, the government is in on it. The mission of government is to protect itself and those in power. It is an inherently evil institution, which is why our founders sought to limit the abilities of government.
