I hope this shut down last longer. I know a lot of people who work for the government who are anti trump. I hope their finances bleed them dry.

For all the hatred they expressed when the BLM riots were happening, to cancel culture against conservatives in Facebook, this is payback for all the emotional trauma they inflicted on the rest of us.

Government is filled with scum bag leftists. I feel zero sympathy for them when they bleed like this. Zero. Fuck em all.

I'm a contractor to the government. Agree 100%. All govie employees are ass clowns who do nothing. Meanwhile, I'm backed up on weeks of work to unfuck their stupid system. Was at FBI first, then DoD. Idiots and leftists.

The feds will get back pay for any wages missed during a shutdown. That's how it always goes.

The only way it lasts longer and actually impacts the finances of the bureaucrats is is Trump becomes the dictator the left has always accused him of being and simply dissolves Congress.

Well here's hoping

Shut the whole thing down indefinitely. Bleed them dry of every penny. Force them all to find new jobs.

They don't lose money during a government "shutdown".

They always get reimbursed 100%

Democrats upped the stimulus like Trump said to do but kept in all the foreign aid. Republicans said no deal unless the Dems reduce foreign aid. Stalemate. Go home for xmas. Deal is dead. But I think they are coming back on Monday.

Remember about two yrs ago Dems pulled this same shit but it involved a lot of money to rebuild the military? Trump signed it for the military but said never again. This is “never again”.

I lost 75% of my income this year because all summer events were cancelled all over the country. The $600 is nothing and just covers about 3 trips to Walmart for groceries, tp, and pt. $2000 is better but still not as good as just reopening the economy, cease the fucking lockdowns, stop the covid fear porn, and just get back to normal.

I am willing to give up my stimulus which is a fucking joke if we can prevent all that foreign aid being spent. Fuck Dems.

I feel for you. My in-laws saw a 10 year business dream fizzle to nothing over the lockdowns. It’s a bloody mess all over.

I feel sorry for every small business who took the risk of trying to be in business for themselves and then have the hard hand of government come down hard on them. It was all unconstitutional. I want these governors to pay personally and I want them brought up on theft charges. This was all to get Trump. They must not be allowed to win.

Trump knows EVERYTHING.

There was a National Defense Authorization Act Bill that could not be pocket vetoed that was veto'd for real yesterday. This was over the lack of 230 section reform, as the chi-comms are using Big Tech to screw with us.

The Pork bill is prime for a pocket veto. Trump can veto it last minute or pocket veto it and the 116th congress goes out of session before they can override.

sustainable_saltmine 6 points ago +6 / -0

So much for McCuckell's "special session to override" then?

iPissExcellence 2 points ago +2 / -0

Everything is disinformation now, pede. They want us confused, angry, and scared.

Too bad we're not retard leftists and can critically think.

"can critically think."

You haven't been paying attention lately. This place is full of idiots that believe anything they see or hear on Twitter or some random web site.

All the Democrat women and "men" couldn't lift that monstrosity.

2
OneBigMaga 2 points ago +3 / -1

Stop trying to blame this all on the democrats. It is beyond obvious that most republicans are no better. Even Rand Paul is saying "fix it for next time".

Democrats are the instigators and control the House

What’s a pocket veto?

15
Larka 15 points ago +15 / -0

The TL;DR - Any pending legislation does not carry over between Congresses (expiring on 11:59:59 on Jan 3rd) and effectively ceases to exist. Any bill sent to the president for signature has a 10 day (not counting Sunday) shelf life before the president must sign or veto before it becomes law automatically.

If a bill is sent to the president such that there is less than 10 days before the next congress begins, the bill can be kept in the president's pocket and basically be vetoed by running down the clock.

1
sustainable_saltmine 1 point ago +2 / -1

How does a bill "automatically" become law if the President does nothing? Sounds kind of dumb. What, some caveat so a President can't refuse to move on the bill and let it sit?

12
Kraznaya 12 points ago +12 / -0

Cause that's what the constitution says. If the President ignores a bill, it becomes law. It was meant as a check to prevent the President from pocket vetoing every bill he didn't like, thus denying Congress the chance to override and pass it anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe, by law, The Declaration of Independence is considered to be an underpinning foundational argument for natural rights enshrined in the US Constitution, much like Black's Law Dictionary.

A powerful document, on it's own.

5
Proud_American 5 points ago +5 / -0

Means not signing for a period of up to 10 days. Delay.

Just read Chad‘s tweets

Mooma 4 points ago +4 / -0

If Trump vetos at last moment (Jan 1), with all the chaos of new congressional session, there won't realistically be enough time to override.
