Multiculturalism has been proven to work in dividing the country. There's no national unity.

Edit - Should be noted that I have absolutely no problem with associating with or experiencing other cultures. My diverse friend group should be evidence of that. What I do have issue with is when those cultures becoming endemic to a person’s identity..... Nationalism helps alleviate that, imo, because it grants a sense of unity in the people they would not otherwise have. If done right, it supersedes any notion of race, and can unite a country’s people, regardless of heritage. This site’s reverance for the country’s constitution is living proof of that. We’re more multirace than anything the other side has to offer.

I don't know, fren. I was at the last two anti mask rallies in SK. There were a few honks of support, but a LOT more people fingering us, yelling obscenities at us, etc. And now the police have charged 8 organizers and made it mandatory that they attend on the court even if they pay their fine. And my rural neighbours won't come within 2 meters of anyone, even friends we've known for decades won't shake hands with us or hug my wife. They even wear masks when out in public these days, they've all bought into it and it's mandatory across the province so at least half of the places you go will eject you if you don't wear one.

I honestly think the only way out for us is to go to America. I have family on both sides who fled communism, it feels like damned defeat to leave again, and it doesn't feel sustainable. But on the other hand, it feels like if we stay here it won't be long before we're in camps. I'm not even joking, the fear porn has been ramped up 100x about this new wuhan flu variant, and they're talking about much more severe lockdowns and there have been hints of camps for those who don't cooperate, right here in SK!

Note the euphemism: "assisted self isolation" -- very soviet.

Merry Christmas all the same. I've been praying, I hope you do the same.
