This. Most of the Chinese are victims to the CCP. Besides, the Japanese Army of WWII committed atrocities to civilians and POWs on an unprecedented scale. Unit 731 being the prime example. It's a permanent stain on the US govt. for letting most of them go free.
That kind of attitude will have you in mandatory mandarin classes in no time.
There is such a thing as a “good” China. Look at the Republic of China, now commonly referred to as Taiwan.

You forget imperial Japan of WW2 invaded china, korea, and a great deal of Asia- Pacific. Ever heard of the rape of Nanking? They were ruthless.
The japanese more recently have been becoming more nationalized again.
Having signed a post WW2 "Peace Clause", Article 9, which renounced war and banned Japan from maintaining any armed forces. They have since been subjugated allies of the U.S.
Given how extreme imperial Japan was, most would never want to see Japan as a militarized nation again.

As someone that knows Japan quite well, I can tell you that they're not ready. They have commercially been relocating out of China to Indonesia and Malaysia because the quality and productivity is the same as China but Chinese labor costs are rising yearly (and have been for at least a decade).
Militarily Japan has 250,000 troops in the self-defense force vs 100 million Chinese.
If you want to beat China, just pay a worker a million to smuggle a bomb into the Three Gorges dam. If the thing explodes, you're going to see China crumble as a nation within a week.
