Live it. Too much snow and too rough.

Yes, yes, agreed. That area is horrible. Nobody should move there... especially not New Yorkers.

Superb response, no sarcasm.

OMG we are not in the boondocks here! This is IMHO the best place in the country to live. All the good things bigger cities have but much less crime. And we’re ALL Patriots. And armed. Don’t disparage us.

i mean can you elaborate what you mean by there are cell phones there? are you actually in the box and have no problem with cell phones as long as you aren't within 10 miles of the secret military obsevatories?

ccooper66 1 point ago +1 / -0

WTF? Yes I’m right there and this was Sent from my iPhone. LOL

1
kudupoo 1 point ago +1 / -0

What cc is trying to say is that they can still shitpost as long as they're connected to wifi. They cannot do it on cell data and, it's iPhone to iPhone only. You won't get messages until you get out of the box and closer to a larger city.

1
ccooper66 1 point ago +1 / -0

Umm yes I shitpost thru my banned WiFi since cell phones are nonexistent

BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

Coverage can be spotty or non-existent as you get close to Greenbank and some... other places not too far away. Cell antennas are arranged so they don't interfere with the facilities' operations, for example using a mountain to shield one side of a transmitter.

Dude I drive truck and I drive through that zone all the time. You don’t have to turn off your cell phone or CB radios. Read this link https://greenbankobservatory.org/about/national-radio-quiet-zone/

It says you have to register any new telecom equipment with the FCC so they can determine if it will interfere with the radio telescope.

Minn2000 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Only if you want to use them, right?

2
MikeHoncho6942 2 points ago +2 / -0

Read the link. You have to register with the FCC if you want to install a cell tower or radio equipment within the zone. So that means like I said and another poster have said that there are cell phone towers and cell coverage within that zone. Nothing is banned.

Minn2000 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Damn, Guess I misunderstood what they were talking about. Oh well, nevermind I guess.

1
kudupoo 1 point ago +1 / -0

Correct, they aren't vanned. However, you cannot use your cell phone unless it's connect to wifi. And, you can only FaceTime. There is NO cell service per se.

I don’t know what the square is supposed to represent, but I live in it and have hunting property almost directly between the 2 stars and I can promise you that there is indeed both radio and cellular coverage in at least 90% of that orange square.

Not true there are tons of cell towers within that zone. They just can’t interfere with the frequency that the telescope operates in. https://greenbankobservatory.org/about/national-radio-quiet-zone/

Minn2000 [S] 4 points ago +5 / -1

The closer you are to those two stars, the more likely you are to have things like that be banned. Most people still use landlines and cable internet.

2
ccooper66 2 points ago +2 / -0

Absolutely false.

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

It isn't false. Cell coverage is non-existent in those two locations. Landlines and wired Internet are the norm. Just check out the Verizon coverage map:

https://www.verizon.com/coverage-map/

1
ccooper66 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don’t use Verizon. Do you live here also? I might know you!

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

Same deal with Sprint, T-Mobile, etc. I live here and there, but sometimes here :) We may know each other

1
ccooper66 1 point ago +1 / -0

So you don’t get cell phone service? I do!

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well there is cell service within the Quiet Zone, but not at Greenbank or Sugar Grove or areas around them. That's what I meant.

-1
Anaconda -1 points ago +1 / -2

can you elaborate?

3
MAGAconvert 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was just there the other day. Cell phone worked perfectly.

2
ZackMorris_osbro 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is nonsense, know many people that went to JMU and all their cell phones worked just fine.

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

Who would admit they went to JMU, though?

1
ccooper66 1 point ago +1 / -0

LOL! Where did u go?

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh I wouldn't admit that either! I've just known too many JMU grads :)

2
crusadetiem 2 points ago +2 / -0

Seems like we’re not getting it, fren :)
