I’ve never heard of that, but now I am thinking it should always be said after every mass.

Historically it was said after every Mass until it was dropped after the 2nd Vatican Council. Pope John Paul II encouraged Catholics to start again.

I knew JPII encouraged Catholics to say it everyday, but never new that about pre-Vatican 2 mass. Wonder why they thought it was a good idea to stop, it's the most powerful prayer I know.
