Ted was/is totally different than Trump. Ted was a Bushie whose primary run was funded, in part, by McConnell. His Outsider persona was manufactured by the Swamp. I do enjoy Teds Twitter snark though.
I'm directly comparing policy, and am saying that they're similar in that regard with the exception of economic policy where Ted is more rightwards.
I'll also note how Ted is one of the only Republican senators that has stood by President Trump and done what is right, he voted against the porkulus bill and was one of the only to do so as an example. He also offered to argue the Pennsylvania case before SCOTUS.
I supported Cruz over Trump in the primaries. Things change. I got on board after the nomination, and after the election I realized no one else could have beaten that hosebeast.
Ted Cruz's policies were very similar to President Trump's, in fact, Ted Cruz is more aggressive in cutting taxes and regulations.
If he had endorsed Jeb Bush, then I'd be seriously concerned.

I did as well, and I do think that Cruz would have been able to beat Hillary but with an incredibly thin margin in the electoral college.
I don't think he would have been able to win re-election due to COVID, which is why President Trump is so important.
