I mean, it's not that ironic when you realize the people running around screaming they represent liberalism are Progressives and Socialists, the evolved form of Progressives.

This is why before they go after anyone else, the first people they go after are actual Liberals. After all, it's hard to impersonate someone when they're in the same room as you. Lying and subverting and redefining is what Communists do best.

Liberal amount of government, have a lot of it, have it do many things.

Conservative amount of government, holding back on the amount.

Unfortunately, having only 2 parties means that this 1 axis, has to be combined with many other aspect that normally make up politics.

So odds are that whatever the parties might at some point have been to embody these 2 aspects, is likely only a tiny scrap now.

Liberal can be defined as seemingly excessive, more than one expects, while conservative is in-excessive, less than might be necessary to extend the life of what is available.

The far left might not like to hear it, but they are religiously conservative in a way, they are so set in their ways that they will violently react to alternative views, let alone opposing ideas. They may be economically liberal, but are very conservative socially given how quickly they denounce "others" purely for the "otherness" they encounter.

Ask yourself, will you offer help to someone you don't know purely if you do not know that person, or do you wait to know the person before offering help. A liberal will offer help without question, to their own risk. A conservative will wait to learn the cost of helping before making an offer, once they have determined the risk of that offer.

Liberal and conservative are neither purely correct. Some situations may require a more liberal mindset, while others demand a conservative mindset. We are human. We assess, we reach out, but at times we consider our limits.
