These people have been in power so long they have made rules and they pay people so they don't have to pay taxes. I can bet she has all the paperwork to show its all "legit". The problem is conflicts of interest, which again with all the money changing hands will be hard if not impossible to prove. These people got too comfy when capital punishment was taken away.
People (including their spouses and their minor children) running for or holding public office should be barred from purchasing or trading any publicly traded stocks or bonds.
People running for or holding public office should have to place any business they own into a trust or transfer to a (non spouse) family member.
People running for or holding public office should be required to publicly post their tax returns each year they are in office and for 10 years after their term ends. Statements for all bank accounts associated with any immediate family members should be required to be posted monthly while in office.
People holding public office should be barred from using or transferring campaign funds to anyone or to any other campaign/charity/business. Any funds not used in a single election cycle should by law be required to be refunded to the donors based on prorating the overall % used. (if you gave $1000 and campaign used 90% overall, you would get & 100 back). No rollovers to the next campaign.
People holding public office should be barred by law from employing or paying any family member or a business fully/partially owned by a family member for any service to the campaign.
Violation of any of these rules or any existing campaign finance laws shall result in becoming permanently ineligible for hold or run for office. Violations are defined as civil or criminal, ie. beyond reasonable doubt is NOT required to be permanently banned from office.
Individual citizens (residents of the appropriate district) have standing to sue for any and all suspicious activity. Those holding office must pay for legal defense fees from their own pockets unless the claims are frivolous.
If you can't abide by these rules, don't run for office.
