My gf tells me I’ve been overusing the word “gaslighting” lately. So can somebody correct me but when a group of people and their ideological followers shut down your businesses, bitch about Amazon having a record year, tell you to listen to science while enforcing policies that are anti-science, saying a pandemic slightly worse than the flu is the worst pandemic since 1917 and then tell you that you’re the problem. Is there a synonym?
Unfortunately yes. She’s come a long way the past couple of years especially regarding fiscal policy that’s I’ve routinely complained and demonstrably proven to her (I vomit every April 15). I’ve got a long way to go in a short period of time, otherwise she might be kicking rocks.
Trust me, most women don't get it. 90% of women aren't interested in politics or real world events beyond the usual daily fluff. It's not that she doesn't want to listen to you, she's just wired to get agitated by things that rock her worldview.
You can tell her all you want but she'll still switch off at some point. It's like Eve in the Garden, the details don't matter as much to women. They are more invested in the world.
The great thing about women is they will listen and give you time even when they don't really care. So keep it short and sweet and focus on the big stuff and don't begrudge her too much.
Exactly right, this is sound advice at least in my experience. Sometimes I do fly off the handle and go into gross detail or long rants about things. IME With women not just s/o’s , there’s certainly a point of diminishing returns that comes earlier compared to talking to your buddies over a beer.
Well I wish you the best and am happy you two still love each other. I like seeing right and left people become partners and spouses. It is the small glimmer of hope I have for the future. Otherwise it is one massive circlejerk group of couples who can't argue a single issue with each other, politically.
