Heard the same. Used DDG for a couple years since dropping Google. Recently switched to Qwant on a tip from this site. Supposed to be a clean search engine, however, it's not quite up to speed yet. I still use it as my main search, but sometimes have to go to one of the CCP search sites. Like most alt. tech, you may have to give up some things you were used to, but it's worth it... you will get used to it and not miss it.

Edit: BTW, the "we don't spy on you" phrase is exactly why I had switched to DDG. Then all of a sudden I hear, "DDG is spying on you". Seems we are being played.
Also... If you see no benefits from social networks - delete them. Why being their user and a pixel on their graphs? Bad product, bad service - I don't want to be the part of that

While not as privacy oriented as Brave, Opera is also a good choice too. It comes with an unlimited and free VPN that you can choose which server to use in the world.
Opera is a piece of comprimised shit. It even has started popups to ''educate users on COVID 19 and safety'' Don't even suggest that shit. Its either Brave or a modified Firefox.
Not sure what you're talking about becuase I use both and have never seen any pop-ups about Covid. Maybe if you have all the bullshit turned on in Speed Dial whcih I don't.

Yippy.com, Qwant.com, Yandex.com and Ecosia.com - ALL bring up things that Google doesn't. Google sucks, abandoned years ago, results are propaganda.

Try Startpage. I tried Quant and it’s not ready for primetime yet.
