Putitout if you are reading this fuck you. you could have asked for donations. you could have passed Voat off to some other goat just like it was passed off to you, but no. so fuck you asshole. you killed my home on line. all of my frens are scattered to the wind. FUCK YOU PUT.
This is what im trying to get at exactly. I know they asked us to not fund them but what happens when the people.footing the bill move on to other things or end up in situation they cant afford?
I just had a random thought.. back in the 60s the federal government created the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to promote commercial free (and therefore, at least in theory, corporate influence free) TV and radio content for the public. It was funded by taxpayer dollars.
I wonder if something similar could be created today, that would tax the corporate mega-mega-mega sites like Facebook, YouTube, Google et al some pittance (1%?) and funnel that money into non-corporate, non-government entities for for internet content without those corrupting influences, for alternate viewpoints to help balance things out.
Yeah, I know, a fever-dream, no doubt. Still, a fun thought experiment.
Its sad to see a bastion of free speech Iike VOAT go down. To be honest I didnt use it much because I preferred win, but they fought the good fight and tried to be what reddit wasnt. THIS is why I would be ok with ads on win.

More than a home, we need to save the world from globalism and reach out to the masses.
Nothing wrong with making money

Put would not let us donate. this was not about $.
Perhaps because the check from the other side was much bigger to quit and walk away.
