Don't even bother. On a normal day it's garbage town for parking. In fact, good luck even driving in. I was going to drive in myself but I'm second guessing it now
Use a parking app like Park Wiz. I live in Maryland and I NEVER go to DC without first reserving a space. You reserve it and pay for it ahead of time so you know you have a space AND you won't be ripped off. Many parking lots are closed due to COVID so parking is at a premium to begin with. When there are events prices are doubled or tripled if you can find one. Get your space ahead of time; piece of cake. I reserved spots for the Franklin Graham Prayer March and the rally on 12/12; no problems at all. Of course I already got my space for 01/06 !!
Yeah, we don’t mind a walk, we’ve both done it before with gear on our backs lol. Will the trains run that day? Also, would it make sense to park in Arlington and hump it from there?

DC is a shit show for parking. You won't be able to park anywhere near DC without paying stupid fees.
Source: former army, worked with Honor guard in DC and Arlington.
You should look at parking near where the subs are.
Easier to take the train into DC than to walk 4+ miles from where your car is.
Seriously. It's going to be a rough walk.
