Watch this video shared by the President just days ago - it's a good start to understanding the forces at work here. From there it's about asking yourself the difference between virtue and deed. Understanding fiduciary duty, political lobbying, interest groups - as a former leftist (like Chomsky deep), you will discover there are a great many parallels between the modern concerns of the left and right. Also Yuri Bezmenov's lecture on ideological subversion (about an hour long on YouTube) was great for framing the context of what we see wrong with our societies today.
You will get massive information overload and it will overwhelm you at the start but take it slow, read, read, read. Be open minded, assume you don't know anything for certain. Be critical in your thinking of material both left and right-wing. Trust your instincts about what is right and wrong. Deep in all of us is powerful ancestral wisdom and knowledge, if you're here and being sincere then you've already felt and experienced it. You have to use your brain, and open your heart. Good luck and I hope you come to some new understandings and insights that help you understand yourself, the people around you, where you've come from and where you want to be going.
^ This is step 1 - the big enchilada.
but how do I figure out what it means lol
Read 1984. Read about some of the other suggestions you've been guided towards.
will do. I read it long ago, but I suppose I should read it again with a more open minded perspective
