Covid’s spike proteins, like most surface viral proteins, are fairly unstable. To ensure that the vaccine induced the right immune response, the clamp chosen comprises two fragments of a protein found in HIV, as those fragments provided the greatest stability to the vaccine.
So it causes false positives when the protein is still in your system. The proteins are used to prompt the immune system response. It doesn't give HIV, but the negative implications of a false positive makes it untenable even if it's a more stable vaccine. It's probably why alternative vaccines need such insanely low temps to keep the other proteins intact.
