If the election law's are infringed upon and believed to be by the masses (or enough people) and there is nothing being done, than the "free state" is no longer free by the law. The reason why it wouldn't be seen as a "free state" is because the government, or bodies of the government are ignoring the will of the people and making sure each right's, of every US citizen is equal (and true) by the law.

This US election we have seen so far the lack of equality with regards to the law as they've blatantly ignored the constitution, and the courts have placed arbitrary latches or lawsuits for no good reason. Best example is "cannot bring to court as there is no damage's yet," then after the election "should've brought it to the courts prior to the election," this alone is arbitrary latches as you can never file a lawsuit.

The issue here is, so far, the courts have de-legitimized themselves, by their own admission that they can ignore even their own statements when ever they want. That's not how courts are, they have to interpret the law, and if there is an example (while non contrary to it) of a specific interpretation, than all courts follow suit, especially supreme court rulings as their sole job is to make sure that the interpretation of the constitution is true.

It's not only an election, if the government bodies are ignoring the law, than you don't have a free country.
