Do they really think they won’t be primaried in their next elections?
Do they think the Tump base and it’s wildly successful coattails will propel the Republican Party anywhere if they continue to abandon their leader without at minimum fighting to ensure he gets a fair chance for his case to be heard?
Am I taking crazy pills? How unbelievably weak, short sighted, and tone deaf to what’s on the horizon if they continue down the path of inaction while stupidly hoping this all goes away if Trump leaves the White House next month.
This is exactly what they think. A friend of mine, who caps himself an old school Republican (RINO, doesn’t hate Trump but accepts that he “lost”), remarked “I don’t get the infatuation with populism. What makes people think they can run a country?” And that is how these people think. That you have to be some sort of ruling class elite with a pedigree to be entitled to run for office. When the truth is Trump or any other businessman is 10x more qualified than these a-holes. And it may have started out as populism and MAGA was just a campaign slogan, but those who fail to recognize what it was become are out in the cold. Our only hope is to primary these losers. All of them.
