Well, she is right to worry. There are risks, and we cannot blame those who love us for wanting us kept from harm. It would be a good idea to simply allow our loved ones this token of their affection and care. Doesn't mean you have to not go -- but it does mean we should brush aside those who wish us well and love us.

I worried the entire time my husband and then (worse) my children were deployed -- they still went and did their duty, but that didn't negate the hope that they would be ok, nor the fear that they would not.

Spend some time with your wife, and tell her that you will always love her, and that everything will be ok.
