338 edge is a pretty obscure round. What landed you on that round? Sounds like an awesome trip.

I served as a Designated Marksman & got to use a lot of different weapons systems, while my M110 was my favored bit of Kit, in Afghanistan l got to see first hand the problems with wind deflection in mountain conditions .

I do guiding around the world & have for a while now had the Long Range hunting bug so wanted something that could handle most conditions & had outstanding performance in Alpine conditions when hunting Tahr ,chamois etc & upped performance from my usual favorites the 7SAUM ( 7mm Short Action Ultra Magnum) & 300 Norma Magnum .

We have built / used a couple of 338 Lapua Magnum over the years but the 338EDG out performs it in the field with lighter hunting weight bullets & in a far lighter more manageable package.

My Custom 300 Norma Magnum set up to my specs for long range Alpine hunting, longest kill to date 878 yards with a 14 -18 mph gusty cross wind.

5 shot group shot with the 300 Norma mag to check sighting after rifle had been shipped to Africa for a hunt .

l wish l had had one as a SDM in Afghanistan,it is one of the greatest performing cartridges l have ever seen in the field & out performs the 338 Lapua Magnum in a far lighter & more usable package .This rifle is phenomenally accurate my favorite hand load l use for hunting shoots 338E -285gr , doing 2900fps into less than 3/4 MOA &they hit like sledge hammers in the field even with large game like Cape Buff,Elk,Bear,Kudu etc

338EDG with my usual guiding Long Range Hunting kit.
