Never heard him speak outside of movies until later on when he didn’t have the accent. Watched Mad Max as a kid but it probably didn’t register then or I just thought it was part of the acting.
Mel Gibson is a natural born American citizen, but his family moved to Australia when he was 10 years old I believe. He started using an American accent again when he starred in Lethal Weapon.
