Actually no I’m not, which is why I’m so surprised. I grew up without cable tv or internet. Only had 4 or 5 channels. Never heard him speak outside of movies until later on when he didn’t have the accent. Watched Mad Max as a kid but it probably didn’t register then or I just thought it was part of the acting.

It'll fade over time.

I moved to the states when I was younger for three years. (Near philly)

Moving out there, everyone noticed the british accent.

Move back home, get called a fcking yank all the time and have peicks singing yankee doodle dandy.

You slowly adapt.

For years, Arnold Schwarzenegger used a speech coach to stop his Austrian accent from fading, because the accent was a major part of his image.

Mel Gibson is a natural born American citizen, but his family moved to Australia when he was 10 years old I believe. He started using an American accent again when he starred in Lethal Weapon.
