I hate the sainthood blue line crap with police too. I was a cop before it was trendy. I handle my shit and go home. I've had two cops fired for dumb shit. Seen some go to jail. I've also seen them do amazing things as well. Bottom line they're people just like you and just like Trump. Fallible as all men.
But I work too hard and have sacrificed too much to hear some fucktard from a cushy big tech job call me a leech. Fuck that. Agree to disagree.

One caveat, however - and this is the crux of my issue with police. It's not that they're generally worse than other people...
It's the potential power they wield. Remember what Lord Acton said about power? That it corrupts? The police's near monopoly on the use of force as a government tool/institution is terrifying.
I can't imagine the Founders intended a police state. Even if there are some good apples.
Go read John Whitehead if you have more curiosity about this perspective. And if not, well, please remember these conversations if/when it comes time to pick a side. Too many cops don't, I fear.
And also realize not every internet argument has to devolve into endless repetitions of name calling. Hell, some of us DO appreciate a good comeback, and someone who's willing to at least engage. (I wish more people did that. If you can crack on me and make me laugh in the process, that's pretty damn good I reckon.)
