So, it sounds like, reading the "why does it matter" link above, the congress can ignore his request and the budget has to be fulfilled in 45 days regardless? Or did I misunderstand that part?
This is true but for optics sake and perspective, Trump is avoiding a shut down while still attempting to fight for the American people by leaving amending the bill in congresses court considering it had a veto proof majority.
Something tells me a shut down is bad for whats going on behind the scenes.
Shut downs cost us more in the long run. If he had vetoed and the government had shut down, we would have had the extra costs of the shut down plus this bill would have gone through anyway.
It just shows he doesn't want to pursue scorched earth.
