I'm sure Congress will get right on that and won't betray GEOTUS and the American people!!

Nah, we're fucked.

If they don’t, they have nobody to blame for why Americans get no relief after being put out of work for months on end. Everyone will hate them. It’s a win-win

and congress will tell him to formally stick his request up his ass.

Does it matter what he did to it, IF HE SIGNED IT?

Is congress going to listen to him?????

7
Grief 7 points ago +10 / -3

No. They don't have to do anything, after 45 days the President is required to spend the money of they don't act on it. He gave them everything they wanted. His $2,000 request was fake

They'd better. Otherwise they're publicly admitting to the American people that they don't want to help them. That won't go down well in the court of public opinion, they'll lose enormous chunks of their supporters. And we're happy to welcome more patriots to the 80+ million that want to MAGA.

The democrats have yet to honor their end of a bargain for a very long time.

WTF? He just signed it after all of that? Congress cna ignore his rescission request. He just gave them all of it...

Don't get too excited. Congress isn't changing anything, mostly because Senate Republicans don't want to. He had all the time in the world to get $2,000 if he actually wanted it, but he waited til the bill already passed both houses. He just wants to be remembered as the President who wanted $2,000 checks.

It's all optics, folks.

This is his attempt at a backdoor line item veto.

How so?

im generally confused

-2
Axiom502 -2 points ago +3 / -5

Like the faggot who downvoted even knows what that means lmao

4
Wtf_socialismreally 4 points ago +4 / -0

Didn't downvote, but line items are basically ignored in the past and the formal request he gave can be denied

WalkFastGoHome 3 points ago +3 / -0

Congress: Fuck you.

bojackjohnson 2 points ago +2 / -0

So if they choose to vote on the rescissions, we get to see exactly who is selling out the country. As it stands now they could just claim they were trying to help the people, even if it meant all that foreign aid. Or they could claim they didn’t know what was in the bill. If they let it go the 45 days... well, hopefully there’s another play in there before then.

Can this be confirmed? If he signed it that sucks!

1
Precocious13 1 point ago +3 / -2

Well, in light of that though, now he's putting it back in their court with the formal request, so now the public is paying attention, if they don't cut the pork, there will be backlash, they were probably going to override a veto, at least maybe they'll cut it now since the public is watching with an eagle eye, and know exactly what's in it.

Is it possible Trump is going to send them a rewritten bill he’s presigned?

That seems like something an realestate billionaire would totally do

Not sure if it’s what’s happening here but I get that vibe

Looks like this is about timing. Gives Congress one more shot to have the ball in their court and remove the pork, That seems doubtful.

Not the strongest executive move, but practically speaking it gets relief checks out and wastes no more time futilely railing against a veto-proof majority.

The redlines are not binding, they are symbolic.

Someone tricked him into this as a compromise.
