I can’t believe people still don’t trust Trump.

Edit: for people asking what I mean, read this: Trump: The Senate will start the process for a vote that increases checks to $2,000, repeals Section 230, and starts an investigation into voter fraud. Trump: As President, I have told Congress that I want far less wasteful spending and more money going to the American people in the form of $2,000 checks per adult and $600 per child Trump: I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill. “As President I am demanding many rescissions under the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. “

Congress can ignore all of the suggestions and redlines, and I expect they will.

Yep, and then if nothing has changed the monies have to be spent. So what is the incentive to change anything for Congress?

The Senate wont do shit!

This has got to be satire right?

Trump_MAGA_99 [S] -2 points ago +1 / -3

No. Trump just signed the original bill in exchange for higher checks, Section 230 repeal, and voter fraud investigation.

5
clarence-thomas 5 points ago +8 / -3

Congress can just ignore all of that now that he signed it..

4
Choosetheform 4 points ago +6 / -2

None of that will happen . The Senate doesn't have to do any of that and they won't . It's an empty promise.

He's already authorized the bill as-is, and just added a polite request to ask them to maybe consider changing things if they feel like it. If they decline to agree, then the bill moves forward exactly as they first passed it.

Authorizing what they passed and leaving it ENTIRELY to their discretion whether changes were made is not a "negotiating" position for anything.

ICA1974 blocks all red lined items for 45 days

In 45 days he will be into his 2nd term and all the RINOS will be back kissing his ass again.

ThePantsParty 3 points ago +5 / -2

Let's just grant that every republican (who voted for these issues the first time around) vote to remove them. It has to pass the dem-controlled house too. In what world do you think they're going to do what he wants just because he asked nicely?

Its a bit weird when people scream "swamp swamp swamp" and then act shocked that Trump will have to "gasp" play swamp games from time to time.

This covid/pork bill is a last minute ambush on Trump to tear down his approval, and his base support before the 1/6 electoral vote. It was supposed to give cover for RINOs to vote against Trump, and suppress his base from turning out on the 6th, which many here threatened to do if he signed it.

Think here for a second, if the swamp thiks Joe Biden will be Prez in 3 weeks, why not wait 3 weeks and give Joe a 10T covid bill? they can get whatever the hell they want, the same way Obama passed his trillion dollar stimulus as soon as he stepped into office.

McConnel and Pelosi, suddenly came to anagreement to put Trump on the spot. Sign it, his base says fuck it, we're done. his enemies (media/DNC) blame the small checks on him. Veto it, and the media goes full court press, OMG! Trump is killing americans!! they are desperate for relief!!

Instead, he demanded the pork be removed by redlinig it and tying it up for the next few weeks, and now congress gets all the blame if they dont up the 600 to 2k.

and for everyone screaming "but the dedt!! billions to the world!!"

relax for a a min, when Trump wins his 2nd term, the funds can be reallocted to wherever or just not spent, its not a budegt after all. If Joe is in, then whatever Trump does now doesnt matter, cuz they will dump another and another and another stimulus bill on his desk, and then you will ahve traded a small waste of money for and even biogger one. besides, most of the spending wouldve been included in a regular yealry budget if they could be bothered to make one.

There is an IMPORTANT item missing from Fox News idiot reporter, Pergram. He's invoking LINE ITEM VETO to remove wasteful spending.

2
Nomoralcompass89 2 points ago +2 / -0

It is not a line item veto, its different in that it involves a different law for this power. Line item veto was ruled as unconstitutional and removed.
