Exactly. They don't understand how the Impoundment Control Act works. People need to read his statement & then read about the act.

He just signed hundreds of billions in pork.

Not a god damn bit of that is getting fixed on Monday.

Yes, but you do understand he signed the bill and Congress can just ignore his suggested follow up bill right? There is no take-backsies when something is signed by the President.

Can anyone do a tl;dr version of the Impound Control Act of 1974 and how it affects this bill?

2
NitroxNova 2 points ago +4 / -2

hasn't been changed yet but will be, the statement says he will send back a redlined version to cut out the pork using Impoundment Control Act

undef -2 points ago +3 / -5

LOL.

That's not how this works.

He signed it. It's law now. Nothing he does now matters, he just approved the biggest pork spending bill in history, and he removed the insurrection act option.

He quit.

You are telling someone else they don't know how this works & you don't even realize the Insurrection Act issue was in the NDAA, not the Omnibus? This isn't a good look.

Read the President's statement below & research the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 & look into how this worked out when he did the same thing with last year's budget.

I agree with the fact that no amount of redlining or “strongly worded” demands mean dick if he signed it.

This was a bad move by Trump. I feel let down and like we go played.

This is what's happening. He didn't just "sign the bill" as is. Congress is still pissed at him for doing this last year, because he was able to withhold a bunch of things in last year's bill by using the Impoundment Control Actvof 1974.

He mentions something about redlining changes he wants or something. Does that even matter one bit if this is signed? I’d say not one bit.

5
BidenHunter 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yes it does matter because he's using the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. Look into it. Also, here's his statement for all the shills on this thread.

Thank goodness for this checkmate move. I was panicked. So he checkmated then, cus most Americans are only gonna care about more cash. His countermove first $2k makes him look like the good guy, all the while cutting out as much of the bs pork as possible. Frickin genius

BidenHunter 2 points ago +2 / -0

I agree. He's smart & this was a good option.

You'd be right.

Wtf with no changes!? So all that money still going to foreign nations, or was that a separate bill? Didn’t the this bill have the measure in it negating his 2018 EO?

1
merf 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think the idea is that since the act is ostensibly about COVID relief, he can "return" funds that weren't needed to accomplish COVID relief--which make up the bulk of the bill.

It's an interesting tactic, but I don't see this working out well though...IMO the veto power was stronger. Make Congress own this disaster completely. 6k pages is a lot of ground to sneak something awful in, and we've already seen a multitude of examples.

Oh, The Impoundment Control Act of 1974 works very well. Congress is still pissed at him for doing this to their 2019 budget. Look into it.

And here's the President's statement: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/statement-from-the-president-122720/

Ok I’m rly worried about what this means exactly. Why the fuck would he agree to this now, unless threatened?? Makes no sense.
