That's why they tie these bills in as such. They can demonize nays as standing against the one decent thing there. It's a fucking trash heap with a cherry on top. Get shit on if you don't eat the cherry.

It's bullshit. Every bill should be 5 pages max and on one issue max. I want people to have to read thier single issue bills out loud and be laughed out of office. It would cut into tons of the special interest shit that is ruining the system.

38
Wankerton 38 points ago +41 / -3

Any bill over 5 pages needs a week of review

34
WallStreetAristocrat 34 points ago +35 / -1

I'm holding strong to no bill over five. It's already too long at that point to explain a single issue vote.

22
WallStreetAristocrat 22 points ago +22 / -0

I just want the sponsors to have to read everything out loud. No more hiding behind the shroud of a giant pork package. Let's see these morons try to validate a god damn thing if every item has to be aired.

7
MAGATRAIN2k20 7 points ago +7 / -0

Any bill over 5000 pages we just need to pass it to find out what’s in it.

-N. Pelosi

3
KekistanPM 3 points ago +3 / -0

Hell, saying "any bill needs a week of review" is revolutionary to these clown "lawmakers."

2
KriMe 2 points ago +2 / -0

Maga party should start hiding shit in bills. Next omnibus bill i want to see a 2 term limit for all elected senate and house members, that extends to staffers. No more career politicians. Let's see how fast they read and pass that.

WallStreetAristocrat 12 points ago +12 / -0

Pretty much. It's a symptom of the earmark backlash but has made things worse. Let every sponsor read thier shit aloud for all to hear. We can decide if it's horseshit or good shit.

That's $2K OF YOUR MONEY you paid them a lot more than $2K to get.

15
Tallsie 15 points ago +18 / -3

It’s not really 2k of our money. It’s 2k of the federal reserves money that we are on the hook for paying back. The insidious part is that congress could still function for a while if every tax payer refused to pay federal taxes for a period of time, as none of the money is a direct payment.

Social security I believe is a direct wealth transfer. So the older generation would be screwed immediately.

I think that's the thing, I think Trump thinks, perhaps correctly, that pork(calling this pork is being kind though, as pork at least benefits a home district) and wasteful spending is not the hill to die on right now. It sucks, but it is nothing new. We need to press our reps on this crap, along with January 6th concerns.

No, we need to get rid of the offices. The government has become so bloated and we have lost so many freedoms in ways the founding fathers never anticipated. We do not need congress or the senate. They are unnecessary in today's world.

That website showed me inflation was about to happen, so I bought silver. Grew my portfolio by 50% 2 weeks later. Maybe it doesn't tell you anything, but it speaks to me.

1
Zeriel 1 point ago +1 / -0

How do I build a portfolio? This is all alien talk to me :(

1
Scrub_Anon 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you want to get into the stock market, it is best to talk to a financial institution like Edward Jones or Fidelity.

1
Scrub_Anon 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you're buying precious metals, it is best to buy local from a dealer. I only bought stock in silver because I had money already in the stock market....was just easier for me. But if you have cash, buy it direct.

We've definitely got to repeal Section 230 of Telecommunications Act of 1996. If we can't get it repealed, we need to re-enact 1776 and cross the Delaware.

-18
giggitybooped -18 points ago +15 / -33

I've little faith in anything at this point. I think you mean when Pence counts votes. No objections will be made. Smooth sailing to a Biden presidency, digging the hole we're in now even deeper and even more insurmountable without someone like Trump helping pull everyone out.

Yea, it's gross. We have got less than 20 days to inauguration and it just seems nothing has gone our way. Tried the state courts that didn't work. Tried SCOTUS, big nope. Tried removing the pork from the bill, we're relying on assholes that have never kept their word or show any interest in voting otherwise. Hunter Biden laptop didn't keep Biden out. Massive voter fraud being shrugged off. Just a wall of utter shit.

I don't think he would have signed the bill AND invoked the ICA74 if he didn't have assurances from the GOP that those things will be done.

Ball is in their court now, if they don't fix it, they are fucked.

Also, this 45 day delay takes us well into a second Trump administration... remember he said "i won't forget" a couple of days ago

10

7
zedrexvsyrex 7 points ago +9 / -2

Exactly. I’m not a lawyer so I could be wrong, but a “special message” doesn’t sound like a binding agreement. And trusting Congress to start an investigation into the election fraud doesn’t mean shit because because he’s basically trusting liars on their word. I don’t want to be a sooner but things aren’t looking so well for us.

Edit: The bill also removes the ability of the president to invoke the Insurrection Act. So yeah, double fucked.

3
dragonE45 3 points ago +3 / -0

not true. it is the president who has the burden to justify why he deny the items, not congress. congress can approve his redline items or do nothing. If congress does nothing, then after 45 days, these redline items will be in full force since the President already signed the bill.

5
flybyninja 5 points ago +6 / -1

5
Mozart_K231 5 points ago +8 / -3

It was veto proof. There was literally nothing he could do. So he used a law to sign the bill with conditions which force congress to basically double down on screwing the American people or to amend things and go, “oh, no, we didn’t really mean that,” and look super weak.

Congress shit on Trump, but he took the shit from his suit coat and smeared it all over their faces.

0

What you're not seeing is that we're ALREADY BEING CENSORED. This website exists because we got Censored and REMOVED from Reddit. We're also getting censored and removed with impunity on Youtube, Tweeter, Facebook and all of Social media. What makes you think this website will last for much longer if Google hides us in the search results?

You seem to think that 230 gives us freedom when the only thing it does is empower ALL of big tech to completely rule over us and control what we can say, see or hear.

Big tech is the single biggest threat to humankind as a whole as Technology continues to evolve. They currently have ALL the info they need on you on file, your name, address, location, phone number, all your likes, preferences search history etc. So imagine when a communist government like Kamala/Biden/CCP take over and they have facial recognition, Drones, forced vaccine passports/microchips, evil police henchmen and a weaponized congress/courts/SCOTUS to ignore the constitution and create their own laws?

Then it will be over for us. Our only hope is to repel 230, completely dismantle 230 and hopefully have the numbers and the courage to fight the deep state Swamp back. Otherwise we're done and so is Freedom and democracy.

This is a decent move. He signed a bill for $600 - the majority of Americans will be pissed that it isn't $1200 or $2000. They now need to get him a revised version or the current version stands, which would be an optics disaster for Congress.

The foreign aid will be delayed. People will then be waiting to find out if Congress plans to send their money overseas or send it to them, the folks they actually represent.

They thought they could force him to sign the bill and that would be that. Now the microscope is on THEM.

1
Zeriel 1 point ago +1 / -0

Except Congress doesn't care about optics or what we think. They already proven that they can vote themselves into power and don't need us so why would they care?

3

Man, I've been a huge believer in Trump since day one, and still am. He's a hero, likely the greatest President ever, and is someone God has been using powerfully to hold off the evils of the world.

But if the majority of people in power in the government want a communist takeover, it's going to happen. The president only has so much power. This may be heading to an actual civil war.

Regardless, read your Bibles daily. Pray for the President, for America, and for the world. And pray for the strength to endure whatever is coming.

This needs to be stickied. The doomer shit is going into overdrive. Nobody fucking reads.

Incredible. Either doomer or pure ignorance. Trump is fighting to fight the Republic and you guys will give him a hard time because he signed this bill. He gains time, no unnecessary time spent on the bill (millions have been spent every year anyway) and focuses on the election. Period.

Exactly. And what's the alternative anyways, a veto proof majority will pass it anyways. They're upset GEOTUS did the one thing he could do, even if it's unliky to result in anything? And now the normies are still mad at congress and not Trump for stopping their paycheck. I don't like that but this is reality.

He gains time,

He couldn't have waited till closer to the 10-day deadline?

Hysteria is difficult to avoid if listening to MSM report it.

This isn’t great, but what else could he do? It was a bi-partisan bill, they’d have overrode his veto. At least now there a chance, albeit a slim one, to get some good out of it.

He just signed the bill and funding that removes his ability to use the Insurrection Act, he just Neutered himself on a promise from ChiCom Mitch and Dual Citizenship Schumer.

This is the covid bill. The defense bill that he vetoed has the Insurrection Act thing. Congress can't legislate away the Insurrection Act powers anyway.

I don't like the fact that it's basically not changed. I don't think the house/senate will do anything unless he actually has some sort of side deal going on. But being DJT that's pretty much guaranteed.

IIRC I have read the Trillion $ Omnibus Bill was the one that contained the IA section, an invocation of the IA can only be done by a Super Majority house agreement as per their proposed amendment within the bill.

Covid bill doesn't mention Insurection Act. That's the Defense bill.

Look up the recission provision .... https://budget.house.gov/publications/report/impoundment-control-act-1974-what-it-why-does-it-matter ... this buys him 45 days even if it passed Congress.

Yuuugefan 2 points ago +3 / -1

This. Means. Jack. He shouldn't have signed. Congress is running rampat with power and dont have to do a thing he requested.

All it says is that they must "start". Gee, I wonder what an investigation that they start and run themselves will find. Or how glacially it will proceed before it finds nothing....

How many years of compromising with Dems for an inch while they take a mile is it going to take to have you people wake the fuck up? Call me a doomer, but hasn’t the past two months of the GOP turning it’s back on Trump told you how they will vote on the checks and section 230?

If you have been paying attention and you’re not angry right now, you’re fucking retarded.

It's just promise from congress. If I had penny for every promise congress made..

If this is the short-term cost of saving the damn republic, so be it.

Trump, pure genius!

-President Trump just invoked the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 while signing the COVID bill, allowing him to redline areas that must be addressed.

-This sends it back to Congress forcing them to 1) repeal 230, 2) cut out the wasteful spending, 3) add $2k.

1
Zeriel 1 point ago +1 / -0

Could you please explain? What's stopping congress from just saying "fuck your red lines" waiting the 45 days and then passing it anyways?

What about if I stream a movie from a 3rd party site and you get a 10 year prison sentence. Nothing about this Bill was a good thing. No more insurrection act for the big man either. IT was a stupid move.

1
FullAutoFlintlock 1 point ago +2 / -1

OP, that's not how it works. You think CONgress will amend those "redlines" its all a joke at this point

FrankW 1 point ago +1 / -0

What indications are there that the Senate will be obligated or forced in any way to start a serious process of voting for further funds or repealing Section 230? What leverage does Trump have to force this now that he has signed?

1
Womp_womp 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol RINOs are fine with 230.
