One part of this is misleading.. they only need to respond if they want the money before the 45 days. After 45 days it proceeds as signed with no action.. so they can literally ignore this if they don't need the money right away.

So this only works with additional pressure on Congress to act.

It's time to remind them who is actually in charge.

23
DannyCanusa 23 points ago +23 / -0

Exactly. I've known for a few years a lot of the presidential elections were rigged. Anytime I tried to tell anyone, they'd think I was nuts. One thing (among others) Trump has done is woken people up to the fact that elections are indeed rigged. Our leaders aren't elected. They're selected.

3
luckyfunk13 3 points ago +3 / -0

The important part of this is the fact that the bill CANNOT span sessions. It dies and has to go through the process again.

Edit: since it's signed, it doesn't span sessions. The 45 days just controls the "must be released by“ dates if Congress doesn't respond to recissions.

13
peterstrzoked 13 points ago +15 / -2

Just a reminder - we didn’t start it, they did, by trying to ruin our lives, take away all our freedoms, and then trying to steal the presidency. This won’t be a civil war 2, this will be our second revolutionary war.

Day 16 of “15 days to stop the spread” should have been day one of the revolution.

Yes! That's a BIG misleading part, considering it diffuses people's anger, making them think legislators have to go on record supporting/opposing line by line - which is not true. Congress can refuse to respond & in 45 days they get everything they wanted; bill stands as written.

23
Futuramawe 23 points ago +24 / -1

The problem with the post is that the deep state swamp will stick together. They will all vote for all of it so you won't know who's paying who.

5
IsrorOrca 5 points ago +11 / -6

No, it literally then means you can call out whoever you want because they voted yes on all of it

7
sickofaltspin 7 points ago +17 / -10

You already could when they voted the first time. Stop trying to spin this as a win.

23
IsrorOrca 23 points ago +24 / -1

It was lose lose, this was the amicable position. It reinforces that every yes vote on the redlines were intentional and no rep can say “oh I didn’t know”

17
IsrorOrca 17 points ago +19 / -2

Also of interest is how in the The House Budget Office's argument they are particularly interested in a certsin word. see below...

Further, "shall," in the context of a statute, generally means "must."  Ballentine's Law Dictionary(3d ed. 2010) (defining shall as "the equivalent of 'must,' where appearing in a statute").  See also Western Minnesota Municipal Power Agency v. FERC, 806 F.3d. 588, 592 (D.C. Cir. 2015) ("shall give preference" was a mandatory directive to the commission); Drummond Coal Co. v. Watt, 735 F.2d 469, 473 (11th Cir. 1984) (noting "'shall' is a mandatory, not permissive form").

Now where might that particular word also be found...?

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Regardless, Congress will -- per the usual strategy -- most likely ignore their own written laws (along with the U.S. Constitution) and move foward with their coup.

20
KingSweyn 20 points ago +21 / -1

"Infringed", of course, means violating the edges, the fringe.

2A shall not be infringed means "don't even think about restricting weapon ownership". Tanks, nukes. The fucking works. All laws that restrict these in any way are unconstitutional.

Again, we haven't had a constitutional republic for many decades.

0
whomurderedepstein 0 points ago +2 / -2

It's still there though, the constitutional republic, if you claim your rights as a human being under common law. Some ignorant people will down vote this. Butt fuck them. They are shills and cucks who are either government agents who are employed to actively suppress this information or they are low IQ people who never did their own research and had some other low IQ person have a bad experience. News flash, for you, your time is over.

Everyone else learn to claim you constitutional rights. At the beginning of the day you only have the rights you claim. At the end of it, it may come down to claiming every one. The government will never give you your rights. Rights don't work that way. The order of authority is God, humans and their human rights, government. Government can't take them away because we empower government through consent. You only have the rights you can claim. Learn to claim them all.

Some basic human rights.

The right to travel freely, unencumbered and unfettered on the public road way.

The right to silence.

The right to speak.

The right to work.

The right to make personal health decisions.

The right to privacy.

Any statues or edicts that take away basic rights are unconstitutional. They must be ignored if we are to save our republic.

Research first, then send a notice of claim of right, understanding, and intent to all your government officials stating your rights and how it is your duty to claim them. Be sure to leave the contract open to rebuttal as to any claims they may have as to why your claim of right does not stand, they will not rebutl, and congratulations you are now operating once again as a citizen of a state in the republic of the United States, party to the constitution, and able to sue revenue collection officers for trespass when the waste your time.

Again to the haters, you are uninformed or a communist, go to hell.

To the all else, if you are in the US research Constitutional rights and how to claim them, follow the rabbit hole. If you are in Canada research rob minard and the freeman society, if you are in Australia research how to become a party to the tribal law of Australia.

Welcome to the free world.

14
Itype33 14 points ago +14 / -0

Unless, of course, you're discussing election laws. In that case "shall" apparently means "at your discretion".

13
bohlah00 13 points ago +16 / -3

Also, at the end, the president should not have too much power. And the house and senate should also represent the people interest. If they don't, the people elected them are partially to blame.

29
aaafirefly123 29 points ago +32 / -3

7
AReckoningIsComing 7 points ago +8 / -1

Well said. Taking an autocratic president today sets the precedent down the line and when Dems call for the same thing you wont have a leg to stand on.

Which is exactly the argument I am putting to lefties on Twitter regarding the fact they say no evidence of fraud BS and Dominion is fine etc. Ignore this stuff now because your guy won this time, and you will have no right to complain if they use it AGAINST your guy next time (they already used it against their own fucking party with Bernie ffs!!)

2
disgruntled_patriot 2 points ago +5 / -3

When I take the autocratic president today and dems call for the same thing down the line, my gun will be the leg I stand on.

Dems can't argue with a bullet.

They wanted it this way. They begged for the free-for-all. They disregarded law and order and standards of common decency to affect their overthrow of the American republic.

Since they insisted on having it their way, any means to enforce OUR WILL upon them is fair game. We can have our friendly autocrat at their expense today and then deny them theirs with violence later.

2
AReckoningIsComing 2 points ago +6 / -4

That is exactly why the cycle of violence will never end.

We need to peacefully secede red states from blue - let them have their communist hellholes led by Bidenbot and let Patriots live freely under free markets under Trump.

9
Packman928 9 points ago +10 / -1

I agree with ‘at the end’. For the right now, dominion has negated the voting process and what we have are installations to the executive and legislative branches. It seems pretty clear that the judicial branch has been compromised. Our country is on the brink of being conquered. The only earthly power standing between our freedom and globalist/Chinese rule is President Trump and a motivated, organized, and well armed citizenry.

4
disgruntled_patriot 4 points ago +5 / -1

Our country is not on the brink of being conquered.

America has been conquered. We are, as of now, not living in a constitutional republic. There is a physical enemy presence on American soil and it is in control.

Our entire congress, judiciary, state agencies, major industries and banks are commanded by the CCP.

America has fallen.

You're right about the earthly powers though.

BaronGSD 1 point ago +2 / -1

I couldn’t agree more. But I have yet to see evidence that the motivated & organized part actually exist. This is an interesting discussion. I keep coming to this site looking for hope that something great is going to take place on the 6th. The only thing I can decipher is that some people will be there, Trump (why some call him “daddy” makes me cringe) brought it up on Twitter, yet offers no other information. A TON of chest thumping in here and occasional posts of wisdom and truth. I’d like nothing more than to see the people force a righting of this wrong on Jan 6th, but the truth is without motivated, ORGANIZED men and in great numbers, then it’s just another rally.

1
Packman928 1 point ago +1 / -0

I haven’t seen compelling evidence of organization either although we are all hoping for it. Not sure that it can come directly from President Trump right now because the deep state would pounce before it’s on his terms. He may just want us in place so that when he’s ready to cross that phase line he can use emergency broadcast or other means to do so. As of right now, that is our best play.

Believe it or not; there was/is other options. And yes, I understand the relevant laws and regulations, and do support Trump.

Not that the current WH Council, the current Chief of Staff, the current WH correspondence/office, or big megaphones will give him the OTHER options which are way more Constitutional than the Impoundment Act is; and way more politically effective too.

38
ChuckedBeef 38 points ago +50 / -12

Here we see the fatal flaw in our system. 510 men and women can be easily corrupted with money or blackmail. It's easy as hell for even a large corporation to throw enough money around to control these people, imagine how easy it is for a country like China or Iran. This is exactly what they are doing.

Those 510 men and women control the fate of 330 Million people.

510 people control 330,000,000. This is insanity and we are doomed to fail as a nation as long as it is so. If we could have one thing change in our system it should be to abolish congress and the senate. We do not need these people any more. They are relics of a bygone era when citizens could not communicate directly with each other. The technology we have makes them irrelevant, and they are a liability.

You can not corrupt millions of people like you can corrupt 510 people. It is impossible and it's the only way we will ever truly be free. it's time for Americans to represent themselves. Fuck these corrupt middleman.

There is no "us". I can only me, I cannot we, and the 31 years of my life has shown me that the vast majority of my fellow plebs are far too ignorant and biased to make good decisions while voting.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean direct democracy. It means an extremely limited federal government, as the founders intended.

We need to be left alone.

11
KyleismyHero 11 points ago +12 / -1

Which sounds good, but the vast majority of them get reelected because of gerrymandering and the two party system. I say flood Congress with 10000 members, each representing 33,000 people not almost a million. And end any laws protecting the two party monopoly. That's a start.

10
Packman928 10 points ago +11 / -1

We have a great governmental system. We just have to go old school and use paper ballots, voter identification, and transparent vote counting/challenger system. Also, institute term limits for congress.

ViduusMAGA 2 points ago +2 / -0

16
SnowflakeJuice 16 points ago +18 / -2

You can't buy 330 million people, but you definitely can control them via the media, and big tech.

There is a reason we have a representative system of government. All citizens can not be expected to be able to review and research every piece of legislation.

It can also lead to mob rule, where people act on emotion without thinking of long term implications. A representative republic is supposed to mitigate this.

You want to stop Congress from being bought, then have 6 year limits of service.

It takes time and effort to buy politicians. Term limits would make it a lot harder to accomplish.

12
Tseliteiv 12 points ago +12 / -0

This sounds good but you're wrong. It's actually easier to corrupt 330m people because the average IQ of 330m is 100. That means you can simply subvert the people using high IQ tactics like what has gone on already. With direct democracy you would actually have a much worse system than now and a weaker one too.

You are onto something though. The Ancient Roman Empire had 500 Senators ruling 50m people at its peak and the Senators became corrupted by foreigners and internal issues much like now.

For a Republic of 330m people we should probably have more like 15,000 Senators and 15,000 Congressmen running the USA. Would be interesting to see how such a system works.

2
disgruntled_patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Such a system would not work. We have way too many senators and representatives in congress as it is. Even if congress was working together for us as intended, that many people representing that many interests would render the legislating body utterly stymied. Complete gridlock.

That many people have never been able to agree on anything unless forced to.

2
Tseliteiv 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you don't think you can get 15k people to agree on something, what makes anyone think you can get 330m? It would still function. Leaders within the Senate and Congress would show up and lead. Most senators and congressmen would be followers. Not much different than now but it's be harder to reign people in to toe the line.

1
disgruntled_patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

"High IQ tactics." LMAO

Well... higher than the low iq voters at least.

8
aaafirefly123 8 points ago +9 / -1

We need to go back to the original design in which x amount of people = 1 representative.

Putting a cap on that was a mistake.

10
KingSweyn 10 points ago +10 / -0

It was literally a mistake. They wrote "more" instead of "less".

They planned to decrease representation as congress grew, first "no less than 1 rep per 30,000," and finally "no more than 1 rep per 50,000", which should have been "less" like the rest of the paragraph.

We should have over 6,000 reps in the house of representatives. Each of the 435 we DO have represents an average of 758,620 people. Impossible. You can't hear the concerns of that many people.

  1. Many states allowed women to vote before federal suffrage. Of course, those women also had to own land and be a head of household, so it was a rather different sort of woman from the daddy's widdle princesses who vote today.

  2. Land ownership would have to be redistributed, given how much of it is owned by corporations and government entities. Force them to divest it, and you know they're going to parcel it out to their "good friends" who will vote for their interests.

Kind of - Trump can hold up funds for 45 days.

If “we need it now!” Is the reason you couldn’t read 6000 pages. 45 days is a pretty damn long time to not have it “now!”

And the American people also get to see what Trump redlines and calls out as “is this really needed now?”

The only way to get it faster is to vote on it.

Meaning anything “non urgent” will be questioned as we draw closer to the 45 days as “why was this in here?”

Fools start to look foolish.

Relax man. Not everyone is a Constitutional expert. I don't think it's fair to question someone's citizenship because they don't know what a "pocket veto" is. I'd bet like 80% of the people on this site didn't know what the heck it was until all this shit started happening.

-1
Carry_Your_Name -1 points ago +2 / -3

What's the points of bitching about it at this point? The bill's signed, what's done is done. The only plus side though is that it shows he's planned to stay for the second term, and he's very confident about it, otherwise why would he bother to expose the porks in that bill and the crumbs for average americans. Why would he bother to even look at it.

"A strong message to the congress". Payment increase from 600 to 2k, review on section, and more. He demands "edits" made to the bill and "additional actions" from the congress, according to a new GP article. The technical term is "rescission". Not sure what exactly that is and how it works.

-2
deleted -2 points ago +1 / -3
1
Carry_Your_Name 1 point ago +2 / -1

No it's not. The only deadline is Jan 6. If something so dramatic happens that day that the congress couldn't figure out who has won, then it may go beyond Jan 6. Don't conflate those two issues.

2
ronnietherocket 2 points ago +2 / -0

A veto proof majority (constitutionally) does nothing. The bill has to go through the same procedure that a bill without a veto proof majority has to go through.

It is however relevant from the perspective of "is Congress going to override the veto". Having a bill pass with a veto proof majority makes it likely that Congress will override a veto.

I really hate the news of these omnibus bills more than these bills themselves. The congress come up with such thousand page long monsters very year instead of multiple small appropriation bills, everybody from both the left and the right gets outraged at it and keeps whining about it for days, and yet it always passes at the end with overwhelming bipartisan votes, and the president signs it with or without reluctance. This year it's worse. It's an omnibus bill in disguise of a "covid relief bill".

They can hold off 45 days, but it'd be easier if they just dropped some of the pork or all got together and voted for all the pork and then ignored his demands than put up with their people being angry for over a month. It was Trump's best move, but it's not perfect.

No, it didn't. You're not seeing reality.

The "standalone bill" (as I referenced before) is supported almost fully by DEMOCRATS because it increases the Covid payment to $2k per vs $600. This does nothing to halt the BILLIONS going to enemies of America, lockdown mandates, etc.

Dems were saying that wanted to do that days before Trump bent the knee and signed the Covid bill AS-IS.

He got his ass kicked every which way on this. Period.

Trump can hold up funds for 45 days.

11
Bidensbrain2020 11 points ago +14 / -3

I am hoping part of this strategy involves replacing most of Congress in the next 45 days

9

Congress should really do outdoor sessions with this deadly virus raging through. We can hold them in a wooded area and use rope to keep their feet from getting all cold and snowy

4
cosmicspiritwarrior 4 points ago +4 / -0

YES, WE DID JUST VOTE IN A NEW CONGRESS, and what trump just did, and said in his letter means he will hold the money and let the next session do it right, he just showed them he still has power and THEY are the ones who are lame ducks. He specifically said the next term will be forced to do it right, and that will probably include him as well (as opposed to biden as they expect)

china has been delaying and tryign to play the long game also hoping for biden. 6th will determine this.

I fail to see how Trump signing on for relief that millions of Americans are absolutely desperate for and putting the optics onto congress to fix all the shit he redlined in the next 45 days is any different. They still don't have the excuse of only having 5 days, the public is still more aware of what's in it, so is it just about the going on record part? That seems minor in comparison.

0

1
maga9999 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's not correct at all.

A bill becomes law in 10 days so long as Congress is in session and the President does not sign it. A pocket veto happens when Congress adjourns within that 10 day timeframe (as would happen when their session ends January 3). The President puts the bill "in his pocket" and when the 10 day period expires, it just evaporates. It does not return to Congress for an override when they return to session. The incoming Congress would have to take it up anew.

Face it, he got terrible advice and signed a shit sandwich.

10
Highspergamy 10 points ago +12 / -2

I don't think Trump sold us out, or betrayed us. He had a really hard choice and he picked one best he could in his estimation.

Just kind of reminds me of a skit where someone comes in snd says "I've got good news", then proceeds to tell you a couched tale of really bad news. The listeners take a little emotional rollercoaster ride, then sit dazed for a split second calculating it all before interjecting, "but that's awful news!", then everyone on the laugh track has a good chuckle.

Definitely not saying there were any better options. If he has a plan before the 20th then this is a power move. If he doesn't and he will step aside, it will all come to original intent of the bill so he might as well stick with the principal and not put his name to the final budget he disagrees with instead of signing every single one he didn't like.

10
Stephanie1 10 points ago +10 / -0

So our senators must be given our money to give to foreigners and for their own kickback under the law? Our nation dies and we starve. The only way out of this is to arrest and hang the traitors before they steal our wealth and before they destroy us because our constitution gives us no other option, right? How soon must we act to prevent this theft?

4
thunderstorm 4 points ago +6 / -2

This isn't going to ruin the dollar. Bitcoin is going up because of a potential Biden presidency.

7
iSignedUpForThis 7 points ago +7 / -0

They have to vote for each item individually now?

11
Bidensbrain2020 11 points ago +11 / -0

They don't have to do anything unless they need the funds released before 45 days.

The funds are held up for 45 days and if nothing happens they are approved by default. If Congress chooses to, they can vote to revise it or override the request now.

If somehow Congress was replaced by honest people who are not communists in the next 45 days this strategy could work. Perhaps that is part of the plan
