The highlighted sentence does not support this claim. The fact that the assay was tested using an in vitro RNA transcript rather than whole virus isolate doesn’t mean the test can’t detect COVID. The RNA transcript is just a piece of the virus as opposed to the whole thing. Do you have any other support for the claim about the specificity of the PCR test?
