This is dumb its called a vasovagal syncope. I've had the same condition for years and it takes a lot of willpower to not pass out when I have blood drawn (laying down and distracting myself). I probably passed out more than a dozen times during my time in the military. Even the sight of blood or discussion of it could trigger a syncope.
Its happened to me with vaccines, blood drawn, and watching a disturbing video i had to for training... I had a syncope moments after walking out of Dr office after having blood drawn. Feel fine go to sit down.. next thing I know I'm waking up in another room with a half dozen Dr's around me in a military hospital.
I haven't had a syncope for years since getting out and when I do get blood drawn at the VA I'm very aware of my condition and let the nurse know. I use a baby butterfly needle, lay down, and ask the nurse to talk to me about anything. So far they've been accommodating.
I agree 17 mins is a while but everyone is different.... the reaction she had looked exactly like a vasovagal syncope to me since thats what I've had. There is a brief moment of confusion then lose consciousness.
Yes I have later multiple times. Once during BMT I had to do a vaccine and blood draw gauntlet got like a half dozen shots. Passed out around 3/4th the way through the gauntlet.
Once as a kid I got a flu shot or was it tetanus? I walked out with my mom and passed out at the sign in desk hitting my head and had a mini seizure.
Again I recall at least one instance of blood work in military. Walked out... felt fine... then went to sit down and passed out. Actually I think this happened twice... because i recall one time I passed out in the hospital lobby and wake up moments later knowing exactly what happened. Someone nearby looked oddly at me and I just got up and left. The other time exact same situation except I woke up in a Dr's office.

I have two in my family that do this -- but not afterward, more like during. Do people faint later, also?
