So, just like the election, sometime in the past month they started pumping in backfilled numbers for the whole year. The explanation is that death numbers as sometimes delayed. So, you know, those people who punched out in March, we weren't sure if they were really DEAD yet or not, so we decided to adopt a "wait and see" attitude.
So now, the numbers the CDC is reporting are showing a 300K gain over 2019 for the year.
Not saying that this factoid is WRONG: just saying that it isn't the unassailable gotcha it was before the CDC caught their gaffe.
