Consider the average person. The average person is not overly intelligent. They are in fact, average. Now, consider this. If the average person is in the middle, intellectually, half of the people in the world are dumber than the average person.
I believe you’re wrong. Average and Mean are not the same according to my HS stat teacher :-). Of course it was public ed and they were probably a member of liberal teachers union.
If the 'average' is, let's say '80', you could have a population that is actually like [40-60] and a small group of genuinely intelligent people, let's say, in the 120 range, who 'pull' that average up.
So even if the 'average' is set at 80 IQ, 9/10 of the people you encounter seem to be below that '80' threshold.
Because they are.
Now comes the conversation about 'why' those shells of a human seem to be just mindless sheep, easily moulded and propagandized to the point of absolutely compliance.
It's almost like the NPC meme fleshed that out a bit for us. Almost like there are a set number of us who aren't NPCs, but the vast majority of our interactions are with the NPCs.. ... it's a big planet, but a small world. It's quite amazing how in 2020, you can literally write a letter to Trump inviting him to your wedding, and get a nice reply saying he can't make it. You can text a billionaire on twitter/fb and actually get a reply (if you're articulate)..
No, that's completely wrong. IQ results are normalized into a normal distribution. In normal distributions, you can't have what you described, by construction.
I love throwing this nugget of truth around...

Let that sink in.
George Carlin was right...
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
Mmm nugget...
I believe that would be the mean :-)
IQ follows a so-called "normal" distribution and in normal distributions the mean and median values actually coincide :)
One of you is of below average intelligence but I'm not sure who.
So stat teacher was actually from the drama department? I knew it!
