Basically got kind of a run-around but an interesting tidbit at the end. I couldn't talk to the sheriff but the secretary put this other guy on the phone when I gave the reason for my call:
Him: "You know those signs no shirt-no shoes no service? Well just add mask to the end of that." Me: "Yes, but it's kind of an uneven playing field because the stores are being fined 1,000 or more dollars for not following these mandates. My question is, if a store refused to follow and was fined, and then refused to go to court, etc, wouldn't there reach a point where the police had to get involved? And so my question is when the rubber meets the road where the sheriff stands on enforcing these kinds of mandates." Him: Well it's not really us it's the health department. They set the rules. If they say there's a fine for the mask that's their decision. Me: Yeah, that is true, but what if a store did refuse to comply with the law? It is the sheriffs department to enforce the constitution. I am curious as to the position you guys hold on that aspect of things..
The interesting tidbit was a little something he said at the end. He basically said it's not the polices job to enforce these fines. If someone gets a fine and doesn't pay it, he doesn't know or really seem to care. Is that just because it would be handled by state police?
I tried to be as respectful as possible and reiterated that I'm a law abiding guy but that I do believe in the constitution and find the mask mandates unconstitutional. Said I wasn't looking to cause any trouble but I wanted to be more involved as a citizen and at least call and ask the question. I get kind of paranoid making these sorts of calls so I hope it was taken in a non-hostile way..
Thinking of calling the department of health next. I'm really trying to give myself anxiety today.
Go to Walmart of a local urban grocery store and pay cash for a burner phone. Use that to make these calls.
We all hate mask mandates and stand against them but when trying to talk to the authorities about it we should be afraid and disguise our identities. I understand what you're saying and in some way you're probably right, but don't you see the problem with that?
💯 We are not criminals for questioning why our rights are being stripped.
