For the last 2 rallies,I have parked in a parking garage near 425 8th st pretty close to Freedom Plaza and usually, people hang there and speakers do their thing and then We all walk to the capital, This time might be a little different with everything being at the capitol. Just don't depend on the metro as it could be shutdown as others have stated.

The last rally I went to was at the Supreme Court. Walking away from there my buddy and I were surveilled by punks walking up close to us even though there were cops within eyesight. Both of us had our hands on our tools to be ready for whatever. Other stragglers hurried to get near us. We were easy to see as friendlies with our MAGA hats and my Trump 2020 cape. By the time we got to Union Station we had 8 - 10 people in our group.

It is mostly safe around the Capitol walking directly to the Union Station metro. Definitely do not go further than Union Station if it's not daylight. You will have some crackheads in front of Union Station but just ignore them because they don't hassle you if you keep walking.
TookLongEnough recommends Capitol South as its roughly the same walking distance. It really depends on which line you are taking. I'm coming in on the orange line from Silver Spring so it makes sense for me to use Union Station as my coming and going spot.
It's really not a long walk either way. If things look like the situation is going south you might want to ask a couple of Proud Boys to help secure your passage. Hell, just about anyone would escort you if you asked them. I know my group surely would.
We got an air b&b about a 15 minute walk from the capitol so I don’t think we’ll be taking the metro. I am very familiar with the layout of DC (I went to college in northern Virginia) and while you are right that all of it is in walking distance, let BLM tempt you to go to the WH, but ignore them.
