Government shut us down, created the problem. Now the government is overspending by trillions to "fix" the problem they created, creating an even bigger problem.

We essentially have universal basic income, and it's conservatives shrieking that we must have it.

miltownMAGA 495 points ago +506 / -11

Exactly. While people (including me) need help, the states that are still in complete lockdown should not be receiving support. Watch dem states collapse on themselves.

25
Sting 25 points ago +26 / -1

Doesn’t matter unless we stop their mechanism of cheating and fraud. Just doesn’t matter. This nation is at least 53% red right now (which is massive) and where did that get us?

Democrats have shredded the constitution and effectively suspended it in many states in our union. They aren’t following the constitution anymore. Why are we? Bring in the military now and arrest these fucking faggots and either execute them or throw them in prison.

These fucking faggot governors need to be arrested now. It was a huge, huge mistake to allow them to lock down their states without any push whatsoever from the White House or the executive branch at all. None, no pushback, in fact we had to hear every day how goddamn deadly this virus was as that stupid Italian goblin Fauci stood a few feet away from our president and lied to us.

Our republic is dead if we don’t take extreme, extreme, extreme action right now. The constitution is a worthless piece of paper if our representatives refuse to follow it. It only has power with agreement. If they aren’t going to follow the rules what is the fucking point of worrying about whether or not we have the legal right to arrest these motherfuckers and throw them in prison? Where is the military? Where is it? This is a full blown insurrection and we’re sitting here watching them do it.

45

It’s simple: we only pay on our debt to countries that haven’t said they hate us

if you owe the bank $10000, you have a problem. If you owe the bank $1B, the bank has a problem

11
canadianhere 11 points ago +11 / -0

Print enough money to pay off the debts, then return to the gold standard.

That's what Zimbabwe and Venezuela both did. When you print money to pay off the debts, you get hyper-inflation. Like, literally hundreds of thousands of percent per annum. Changing currencies doesn't work.

2
IbleedOrange 2 points ago +2 / -0

We had to end the gold standard because even though we were on a gold standard they still printed way more money than they had gold to back up. Once other countries figured that out an started redeeming dollars for gold at an increasing rate they closed the window cuz we were rapidly approaching the point where we'd have run out of gold.

4
Liver-Eatin-Johnson 4 points ago +4 / -0

We need to return to coinage. Gold, silver, copper, maybe a few sizes of each.

Decentralize the precious metals so the government can no longer have access to it.

2
Lorenzo72 2 points ago +3 / -1

I heard this on a podcast not to long ago, which one I don't remember as I listen to a few of them. If Trump moved the Fed into the Treasury, saddled them with all this stmulas money, then had the Fed file bankruptcy, that would get rid of the Fed and enable us to move to the gold standard a little easier. Also, since Trump has the proof of China's involment with the elections and the treasonist individuals, covid, he would declare the debt the US owes China, null and void. Again, cancelling the debt, and enabling the US to move to a gold standard.

The $2k still does that without the regular people being the ones that collapse. States like California and NY have lost a ton of revenue and are on the verge of an economic collapse. The original bill was going to bail them out.

Now the people get the money and the states don't. Even better is that the states can't even tax it unless they hike up their sales taxes like crazy, which would speed up their collapse as people won't buy shit.

Though I would never want this to be a permanent thing, I think it is pretty ingenious of Trump since it strengthens his popular support when he really needs it right now.

8
CantStumpTheTrump 8 points ago +9 / -1

Twoftlongnonefttall 2 points ago +2 / -0

Now the people get the money and the states don't. Even better is that the states can't even tax it unless they hike up their sales taxes like crazy, which would speed up their collapse as people won't buy shit.

Say what? Demand is inelastic for essential purchases, people will pay the sales tax regardless. The sales tax line item is not going to prevent people who have the money from paying the electric bill or the mechanic who fixes the car.

Average sales tax rate in the US right now is 7%. That means that the state stands to get $140 of every $2k check.

The state always wins. They win even more when people buy online and they don't have to financially support retail infrastructure.

1
Lenny_Kravitz2 1 point ago +1 / -0

$140 is still not enough for NY, California, and a few other states that Dem heavy. They needed the bailout money that Congress was about to give them but Trump denied (and rightfully so).

1
DrinkLikeAGilmore 1 point ago +1 / -0

9
Trump2024 9 points ago +13 / -4

He's still got the option of doing a line by line veto that each of the lines will have to be voted on separately. It will force Congress to show who they are by voting for individual pork slices.

4
Brave1884 4 points ago +6 / -2

SCOTUS made line by line veto unconstitutional back in the 90’s with Clinton. So he doesn’t have line by line veto power.

Different things. Line item veto is signing a bill into law but excluding a part of it.

After it's done, end of the line. Ruled unconstitutional.

The Impoundment Clause Act (or whatever it's called) DOES send it back to congress to be voted on, unless they want to wait 45 days and then it goes through.

Who shows up to the dangerous and or crappy "essential" or non-essential jobs when there's a UBI? It seems like the whole thing would go pear-shaped pretty quickly.

0
DarkDrai 0 points ago +5 / -5

The whole point of UBI was to let people keep it whether they work or not, so that if you DO get a job and earn a paycheck, you aren't losing any money from working harder. Welfare, unemployment, food stamps, all these things should be consolidated into a single program without all the bloat of case workers, etc. trying to determine if you really need it or not. I can't speak for the rest of his policies, but Yang's UBI was very well-designed.

15
10R1440 15 points ago +15 / -0

Goods and services on the market are priced exactly as high as the market will bear.

Even with your well-designed UBI, everything will become more expensive simply because it can.

I wonder when people will divorce themselves from the idea that Trump and the Republican party are allies. I thought surely when the GOP had complete control of Congress for 2 years and they fucked him 100x over that everyone saw it. The kabuki is strong yet, I suppose.

Preferably via your username, but otherwise thru military takedown once they’re irrefutably proven (to the uneducated normies) that they are Chinese mouthpieces pushing treasonous propaganda and the receipts are released. Idk if the founding fathers really intended for the first amendment to protect entirely subversive foreign propaganda.

I think McConnell can read the writing on the wall. He knows Georgia is in Trump's supporters hands. And the one thing Mitch loves is being Majority Leader, no matter how he gets there.

The one thing working against the MAGA party is that he was just reelected for another 6 year term.

14
johnqpublic864 14 points ago +14 / -0

He's still less bad than his opponent.

Our forefathers screwed up big time by not including term limits. And 6 years is too long for any elected position. It should be a maximum of 10 total years in any elected position, period. We need an end to the "career politician."

2
TheChosen 2 points ago +2 / -0

Our forefathers screwed up big time by not including term limits

Forefathers, perhaps. But the Founding Fathers had it right. Senators were originally chosen by the State Legislatures until the evil that is the 17th Amendment came into being in 1913. It needs to be repealed ASAP. By making Senators elected directly by the People, the States lost their voice and representation in the federal government. Now, the People have too much direct power, and the States don't have any.

2
Friendly_B 2 points ago +2 / -0

Originally the Senate stood for the state and the House for the people?

1
TheChosen 1 point ago +1 / -0

Exactly.

Ultimately, all power in the United States government comes from the People. However, much of that power comes indirectly (Representative Republic opposed to Direct Democracy).

The People are the soul of the country. They are the reason the government exists. The next most important entity is the individual State. The federal government is just the glue that holds the Union of States together, and gives them a common direction (whether to go to war or not, etc.).

Unfortunately, the federal government has gotten way out of control, and has usurped the Powers of the several States.

Before the 17th Amendment, a State had its own representation in the federal government through the Senate. The Senators were chosen by the State Legislature, which was elected by the People of that State. So the People indirectly had control over their Senators through electing their State Legislators.

The People have always had their direct representation through the election of the House of Representatives. That was always meant to be. That was the most democratic part of our government.

The Senate was never supposed to be elected by the People. People are too rash and short-sighted to have full, direct control. That's why the Founders broke away from the Democracy models of the Greeks. The House of Representatives was designed to be the "reflex" of the government... terms only lasting 2 years, so People could quickly replace those who represented their will a couple of years ago, but no longer. There are also many more Representative than Senators, so they can give a better representation of the People as well as have each one's influence be negligible.

The Senate is where cooler heads prevail. It was meant to be the long-game. 6-year terms kept radical changes from taking place over a short period of time. And because a Senator was chosen instead of elected, his loyalties remained purely with the State which chose him. He didn't have to campaign or fundraise or pander to special interest groups. He was accountable only to the State Legislature. Meaning absolutely nothing like this Georgia debacle was ever meant to happen.

Unfortunately, we are not in a perfect world... or even an ideal world. Things have changed. Now, patriots chant "USA!" Long ago, they would have chanted "Virginia" or "Pennsylvania" or whatever State they belonged to. Perhaps some still have that sense of State pride. I know that I have that pride with my home State of Texas. To me, Texas IS the United States of America... at least in Spirit. That's why I can equate the two. I couldn't do the same with a State like California or New York... not these days. Maybe 200 years ago, but not today.

But I digress. Anyway, because a Senator was loyal to his State, and not to the whims of the People, he would stand up and fight for the good of his State. He wouldn't give his State's Power over to the federal government. He wouldn't sell out his State or his People for his own benefit or the benefit of the elite.

At least, that's my general take on the subject. There would be some rotten Senators, of course... but not nearly as many as there are now.

May God bless the United States of America, May God bless the American People, and may God bless the patriots such as President Donald J. Trump! Amen.

2
Friendly_B 2 points ago +2 / -0

Great summary. I thought I understood the three branches well and yet was never taught about the origins of the Senate. This makes much more sense. I feel as though I was taught a revisionist version of the purpose of the Senator count.

I understand the "covid" relief bill that is full of pork fat and puts most of the money toward foreign countries and shit that has nothing to do with covid. I am afraid to inform you, but you can't buy a whole hell of a lot of gold. I mean, I honestly do not see gold actually going too much higher in the future. In August of 1999 gold was $8,147.96 USD/kg and today it is nearly 8 times that at $60,691.61 USD/kg

Not saying it won't keep climbing, but I fear many gold investors are new investors either preparing for a commie cornpop term or for the crazy devastating war that is about to ensue.

Buy silver! You can get more for your money. I'm not 100% positive, but I also see silver going up more than gold (percentage wise).

I mean... Bitcoin is a novel idea. It is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for digital pixels. Nothing backs Bitcoin.

Gold is backed by the fact that it is a desirable physical product. Sure, many will manipulate it or at least try to, but I'd wager to say gold is still preferred by the regular guy.

1
pepe_patriot_1776 1 point ago +1 / -0

Also after the latest halving event, participation in the blockchain significantly dropped. Soon, there will be just a few players left, and they could just strong arm the blockchain. The concept is cool I just don’t see it being a reliable source if it’s already not being used as intended.

1
mikejones 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not like I need to hold Bitcoin forever. I can sell at $100,000 or higher after it pumps off FOMO and then move on to something else.

1
WikkiWikki420 1 point ago +1 / -0

I understand where you are coming from, but understanding that the current high it has ever been is around $26K per coin... It becomes increasingly harder to see it ever achieving that mythical $100,000 per coin.

Now you can argue that there is or may be some event that happens in the future that resorts to us moving away, for real, from hard/tangible currencies. In such a case, which I also do not see ever happening, you'd fall into the FOMO category of people that felt a crash was imminent. If a coin reaches $100,000.00 we have larger issues than currency at that point. To be entirely honest, you'd have a situation that makes the China flu pale in comparison to the real severity of impact it would have on our economy.

I just do not buy that bitcoin will ever be the future and that is coming from someone who currently has 47 bitcoins from early mining days. I have them, but what am I really going to do with them... so I Ron Popeil their ass and I've "Set it and forget it." Whatever happens to them, happen.

6
GreatBambino 6 points ago +6 / -0

Gold or silver. If anyone's looking to diversify take a good look at silver mining stocks like AG. Do your research of course.

4
priestessnico 4 points ago +4 / -0

Are you shipped bullion or not? What is the point of investing in precious metals otherwise?

3
GreatBambino 3 points ago +3 / -0

Physical bullion is safer but has lower returns. A lot of gold and silver investors will buy into silver mining stocks as a way to diversify and get a bigger bang for their buck. For example, First Majestic Mining (AG) went from $2/share to $25/share during the silver bull run in 2009-2011. I'm playing it safe, so I'm diversified in physical bullion and mining stocks for the long term.

3
priestessnico 3 points ago +3 / -0

I've sometimes wondered if the value of precious metals is lost to us at this point, underlined if there were a shit-hits-the-face moment and society collapses. Has the perceived value of gold and silver eroded in the face of functionally more precious metals in the last 100-150 years? If I'm hacking it out in the wilderness in some post civilization world, why would gold and silver matter?

3
GreatBambino 3 points ago +3 / -0

I wonder the same thing. But then we see foreign governments like China and Russia buying and stockpiling massive amounts of gold while Uncle Sam fires up the printing presses for another trillion dollar giveaway. It's insanity.

1
deleted 1 point ago +1 / -0
1
GreatBambino 1 point ago +1 / -0

If shit hits the fan, Silver and Gold become more valuable because they're considered a store of value or a safe haven. Mining companies make more money during those periods because there's bigger demand for gold/silver.

6
Scumbag-reddit 6 points ago +9 / -3

He essentially did stop a bulk of it. They will have to vote on each individual line item which in turn would expose whichever politicians back that particular measure.

Prior to- it was a joint effort of "put whatever in and we won't care because they won't nit pick it" (we did). Now it'll be scrutinized much more so, as each line will have to be justified (as in: why are we giving $10mil to Pakistan for gender studies again?)

4
FireannDireach 4 points ago +6 / -2

They're not going to vote on every line, not how it works. Even if it did, the bill is over 5000 pages. They have 10 hours in the Senate and 2 hours in the House to argue all of it.

The process here is he redlines specific spending. Then he has to submit why he's against it, the overall impact, and then a solution. (in this case, cut the line item out.)

At best, he can ask for the biggest, most egregious, but the process is not a renegotiation of the whole bill. Never was. When the ICA74 was put in place, line item veto was removed as unconstitutional, and this was process was put in place intentionally to prevent Presidents from doing exactly what you're saying.

Instead of being called a doomer by children here last night, I looked into the history of recission. Read this:

https://www.hsdl.org/?view&did=715145

So, this isn't that obscure a process as the MSM make it out to be. Every president since Carter, with the exception of Bush Sr. submitted them to "tweak' passed bills, with varying success. But overall it was singular issues, not the entirety of a 5000 page bill - I suspect if he dropped a recission request on the entire bill, both houses would hard pass on it. Also note that who controls the Congress at the time also influences the success, Clinton got over 60% of his approved, as both houses were DNC controlled at the time.

But what is notable is it's not a negotiation on the whole bill. It's specific spending items. Trump redlining every line item would push the process past the time frame allowed, and it would simply remain in place, untouched.

If either side of the aisle were willing to renogiate the whole thing, they would have done so while it was in committee. They passed the bill, in both houses, with massive support on both sides. This is the bill they intended to become law, after fighting it out all year, and they told Trump they would override his veto.

Tell me why you think, in the alternate reality where they'd allow a recission on the entire bill, what they'd get out of that process? Why they'd even consider it for more than 10 seconds?

I hope Trump tries to take the most obnoxious things out through recission, especially foreign spending and the retroactive covid relief for lllegals. Hoping for more than that - honestly, prepare to be disappointed.

1
f_bastiat 1 point ago +1 / -0

Nothing holy about it, a majority of our elected officials are willing to let this fraud slide because they don't want to rock the boat or they are in on the game, I would be very surprised if there isn't a body count by the end of January if they don't somehow prove Trump lost fair and square, we all know they can't. When I say war, I don't mean left vs right, bullets flying in every city, I mean people who have been pushed over the edge taking out their anger on the elected officials they believe to be responsible. I live in FL so I don't expect anything to go down here, but DC and maybe a few major dem run cities better bring in the troops and hope they side with these extreme left wing politicians.

Trump made the best move he was able.

-2
maga9999 -2 points ago +2 / -4

No he didn't. A pocket veto kills the bill and prevents its return to Congress, meaning it can't be overriden.

Trump got terrible advice and signed a shit sandwich.

5
KAGMAGIC2020 5 points ago +5 / -0

He cannot pocket veto this shit

2
maga9999 2 points ago +2 / -0

Why couldn't he pocket veto it? The bill wasn't presented to him for signing until late in the week, and Congress adjourns on January 3, so all Trump had to do was hold onto it for the alloted 10 days excluding Sundays as specific in the Constitution and he would've killed the bill in a way that would prevent Congress from overriding it.

This is basic constitutional stuff.

They were but now they can't hide behind the "muh Covid payments" argument.

The biggest problem was that by trying to tie Covid to their porkulus, it made it seem as though anyone who voted no was against giving Americans help. But they effed up when they made the payments $600 because he'd been saying LEGAL Americans deserved more.

3
Forte 3 points ago +4 / -1

Best move he could have made. In any scenario, the thing becomes law. He could have vetoed, they override, and he's left with the narrative against him that he vetoed relief money. He pocket vetoes, they override, and he's left with the narrative that he delayed relief and ultimately didn't support it. If he just signs it, then the narrative is as good as it's going to get but then all the pork goes through. Doing what he's done lets him have the best narrative and potentially eliminate some of the pork (although I find that highly unlikely).

1
Bartman007 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's part of the US Code -- the statutory law that Congress is responsible for. Congress passed it originally and can change it at any time. Because it's a statute. Those are the laws that Congress controls.

7
HillarysDoubleChin 7 points ago +8 / -1

Well to my understanding, that's not exactly true. While inherent presidential powers (like the pardon power) are not subject to congressional amendment or abolition, other powers are. Remember, the IA is not in the Constitution, unlike the pardon. The IA was exactly what it said it was, an ACT. That means it was passed as legislation. So if it was created by Congress, then it can be removed by Congress.

This is not an inherent presidential power and thus they can restrict it. At least that's my understanding and I took a Constitutional law class.

2
Bartman007 2 points ago +2 / -0

You're exactly right regarding the IA

11
Stukov 11 points ago +11 / -0

Page 216 in the pdf. Download the text and do a search for Insurrection. If passed it says that Trump will not be able to use it unless Congress approves him using it. From the spending? AFAIK, they're printing it from scratch, meaning the entire currency system is taxed as as a result.

1

Yes from the spending. I was hoping they may try to balance out the 900b to make room for the increase in the stimulus portion for the citizens but that's probably expecting too much from the government.

If it makes you feel better, these seeds were planted by our forefathers. Freedom is the single greatest thing a person can have, but it also allows for those who are corrupt to move in and bend the system to their will. Of course, there are checks in place to prevent that, but as we see if these checks are eroded enough, and our population lacks education/historical context, it will creep in.

I'm just so sad it happened so quickly. The powerful have essentially turned our system of checks and balances into one giant level they control. And we have a significant amount of our population who don't have the education necessary to critically think (they were never taught this skill) and they don't have an education in our history.

It's a tragedy, but the good news is this election proves there are more of us than them.

8

If ur an older millennial, you literally had a front row seat to it all growing up.. very sad indeed to think back on 1990s america.

5
philasoma 5 points ago +5 / -0

That's me homie. I've watched our culture die a horrible death. 80's, 90's, early 2000's music/movies were so good. The modern left is incapable of creative thought, which is the product (I am sure) of decades of adopting deconstructionist/post-modernist ideals.

I sure hope we can take it back in my lifetime.

2
Rifleshoot 2 points ago +4 / -2

Every system of government has its drawbacks. We’ve found the weakness of democracy: mob rule and corruption. People are just going to keep voting themselves more and more gibs until the whole system collapses.

We’ve already had a moral collapse, next is an economic collapse, then a political collapse, and finally a military collapse. I think we as a movement can certainly impact what comes next, and that’s what we need to start thinking about. It might be a dirty word around here, but the “America First” movement being formed by Nick Fuentes can certainly morph into a serious political revolution, especially if some more capable people take over from him.

1
philasoma 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't think anyone thought that a single group could take control of SCOTUS, Congress, and the Whitehouse. And I know our ancestors are tossing in the graves at how we let the Administrative state essentially become the all-powerful fourth branch of our government.

I'm optimistic because every dominate culture creates a strong counter-culture. Trump is the first, but he won't be the last. Modern Conservatism will rise because it is a movement of free-thought, intellectualism, and exceptionalism. Hopefully we can stop this before it gets to ultimate collapse, as you aptly warn, or, if it does, hopefully we are the ones who bring it about on our terms.

You look back at some videos of Hitler giving speeches. Look at the crowds cheering him on. You even look at some of the tyrant presidents today, like in Venezuela. My confidence in the viability of crypto-currency is low. Bitcoin's increase is due to limited availability caused by China's ban of selling cryptocurrency. China has at least 50% of all bitcoins ever created, so demand has outpaced the supply because of China's influence. Theoretically, they are artificially inflating the value of the cryptocurrency so that they can sell bitcoin in the future (when they temporarily unban selling cryptocurrency) at those inflated prices and then cause the monetary value of bitcoin to collapse.

Non-citizens married to citizens received money last time.

What farstriderr refers to is family members of illegal aliens getting money now. They were blocked from getting money before...

They didn't receive money last time. This bill is specifically non-citizens married to citizens residing in this country.

You're absolutely wrong. The previous relief did send money to non-citizens so long as they were legal permanent residents of the USA.

This bill includes money specifically for citizens married to UNDOCUMENTED immigrants, or mixed status families as they're defined:

Mixed status families are families in which one or more family members are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders) and some are undocumented without legal immigration status. Approximately 16.2 million people in the United States live in a mixed status family. These families house an estimated 6.1 million U.S. citizen children.

Trump signed it but invoked a special "rescission" act that is very similar to a line-item veto for the foreign spending, forcing votes for each part.

Can still get overridden though

Now they have to have it on record saying they honestly think pakistan needs $10,000,000 of US Citizen Taxpayer funds for gender programs

Dispense redpills to the normies harder than a peace merchant shares peace at a german christmas market

The republicans in the house overrode it. More of them voted to keep the current spending than for the stimulus.

Kind of. It puts it on hold for a few months, and let's Trump redirect the funds using emergency powers. That is, if they don't vote to push it through.

You sure about that? Cause House already voted on it today and Senate is voting tomorrow.....

All of the redlined pork has to be revoted on if they want to unlock it.

They passed the increase in cheques but they gonna end up sticking with the pork. More Rinos voted to go against Trump and keep the pork than voted to give the American citizens $2k of their own money (once they make us pay them back for it in taxes)

Reopening the economy with new laws protecting citizens from mask tyranny from big business should have been included. I'm so tired of this crookedness.
