My gf is a nurse. She wont consider the idea that the lockdowns are worse than the elderly(mostly) that die from it. Ive tried to explain to her that we're never getting rid of disease. She refuses to think about the possibility of a real great depression, rampant inflation, and the extremes that which people will react to them. I call these types ostrich people.
We lived through one already. It was Great Depression 2.0 caused by the wonder twins team of Obama and Biden. Now we get to potentially look forward to have of that wonder team causing a 3rd Great Depression. A country can't just keep printing over a third of the currency being used within the past year and keep making the same brain dead pretend schemes without it seriously biting ALL of us in the ass.
People were out of work for multiple years straight and a lot of people lost their homes. I had both of those happen to me. No realistic paying job for 5 years straight and eventually at the end of that it was bankruptcy followed swiftly by losing the house. And when I see the business owners talking about what the lockdown is doing, I see it all over again. Meanwhile, there's a segment of the population who either is lucky enough to have a business not affected or they work in some capacity where they aren't meaningfully affected, so they largely just go on thinking there's not much wrong. Thankfully this time around my family seems to be in the unaffected category, but I know what I'm looking at and it's not good.
