Not to say fun won't be had, but yeah, there are risks but potentially great rewards. Food vendors would be smart to be there $. Restaurants would be brave but smart to be open as well (breaking the DC mayor's restrictions). We'd prevent damage by violent folks and spend money.

You shouldn’t tell anyone not to go. Trump needs us all. What are you expecting to happen?

Edit for warning on these asshole posts telling people not go. Read what our French friends who tried and failed at this said here a week ago:

Before the 6th of January, you HAVE to know what the enemy is going to do, what’s going to happen to the Trump/Constitution supporters. The Yellow Vests in France already tried to take the institutions 2 years ago and failed miserably. Here’s why. Spread in the country A lot of French demonstrated in their own town. They wanted to show that all the country was supporting the movement. It was a mistake, too bad for them: the ONLY WAY to overthrow a national swamp is to go to the capital and to focus yourselves on the political institutions. There is no other way. If you want Trump to be President the 6th of January, you probably have to be ONE MILLION patriots in Washington DC, to outnumber the enemy. Take care: probably they will try you to organize other meetings and demonstrations across the country, they will say it’s too dangerous to go to DC, they will cancel the flights, they will covid you, etc. You know them. They will give you a lot of reasons to stay home. DON’T! GO TO WASHINGTON DC.

So STFU with your don’t go bullshit. WE NEED EVERYONE!

He's also not wrong though their expectations don't fall in line with reality. They need to come prepared and not to party and be a nuisance.

Food & drink is crucial - smart vendors will make out like bandits. Bands are a great idea because they have loud speakers which are crucial for organizing crowds.

You are correct that tear gas should be expected - but its a tactic vs. smaller crowds. When the crowd is hundreds of thousands, it's less effective and could backfire on them. It should be planned for. But it's not alien acid and shouldn't be a reason anyone stays home.
