Have an android smartphone. Hubby has flip phone. Is there a way to get rid of freaking google on this phone entirely, so I can finally dump the google email I never use anyway?

Only android phone I ever had was so intrusive that I hunted down an app that allowed me to cut google off, but in the end they still backdoored their way into my phone. I would regularly get updates without asking, messages and ther shit that let me know they were still there 100%.

My son chose it for me since we needed some smartphone capabilities when on the road and remote. Hubby has a flip phone.

I don't dislike it since I have added nothing to it and shut off everything it would let me shut off. And uninstalled everything I could uninstall. But I would like to get rid of google, and I dislike all apple shit. So was hoping there was some option.

Just gotta keep digging I guess.

“Rooting”,” but it’s not easy to do.

The alternative is an app for everything you want to do on the device.

And people wonder why I prefer low tech/0 tech options where possible.

I am not even necessarily worried about privacy, per se, since I don't really do much on the smartphone. When I really want privacy, it stays at home in fact.

I was just hoping I could get rid of the dang gmail account and google entirely when we find a new service for hubby's you tube channel that works well for what he does.

Rooting does sound complicated and likely beyond my experience tech wise, since I am not very tech literate to begin with.
