Nice choice! Calligraphy is fascinating, especially if you also use it as a way to learn a foreign writing system.
And some companies need calligraphy. They get their own fonts designed, or existing ones modified. Sometimes just for a logo, sometimes because it's a way of "speaking in their own voice."
IIRC the only places to study it though, in the usual academic sense, were Switzerland and The Netherlands.
The ignorance of the experts in many fields is unbelievably breathtaking.
