The American Revolution. The economy was great, much higher standard of living than in Europe. Many British and Hessians couldn’t understand why the colonists were fighting. Hell, many of them stayed after the war and became Americans.

True, however in the context of the wealth disparity, Sam Adams was rich, while John Adams was middle class and without the resources of his cousin. We have our Sam Adamses in Trump and a few others, and plenty of John Adamses here.
