Who should I call? I was going to just start out with a random local rep and go from there. As a new homeowner with no kids (and will homeschool later) realizing that public schools dictate the majority of property tax (crazy i Allegheny county), I would like to eventually petition to waive taxes caused by public schools for those not utilizing them. To start, I want to get an idea of where all local (property) taxes are going.
the election fraud shenanigans have inspired me to get more involved in local govt in general.
Depends on where you are.
I'm in CA, where all property taxes are collected by one entity - the county tax collector.
In some areas, property taxes are collected by the county and the school districts.
So search for the county tax collector and/or the school districts.
You should be able to locate duplicate copies of the tax bill(s).
