I work in the tech-industry which is usually filled with socialist nonsense, but my particular company is pretty decent. There are two women above me on the totem pole and both are no-nonsense, professional and brilliant.
If a guy/girl/xit is all about political correctness and fluff, they reek of it in the interview and beyond. If someone is a pro who's there to do the job, I don't care about gender, accent, etc. I agree with you on that.
I work at a Silicon Valley tech company and women are clearly being given priority. They even have no hesitation openly stating that “we need to hire a female for this position”. They also hold company events specifically for the female employees where they get the day off, free lunch, gifts, etc.

In the ideal world yes, in the utopian world, yes. In the real world, risk is a big part of a business, and if reward doesn't equal substantionally more than risk, then the risk isn't worth taking from a business perspective, and business can't pay bills with social morals.
The problem is risk. One single unsubstantiated, evidence-free claim from any woman, just because she's mad, or jilted, or just for the hell of it, and her male accusee is finished. Career over, blacklisted, family and savings gone. There is no defense, no way to defend against it. The only way to somewhat protect yourself is avoidance.
Then we need to change the idiotic laws so there are consequences against moronic women who want to play victim. It should be jail time, life ruined for anyone who wants to lie about being assaulted or harassed. It’s what they deserve.
