I'm really into the May 77 stuff again right now. I was on a spring 90 kick there for a few weeks. Favorite show is probably Pembroke Pines 05/22/77.

While the early 70s (late Pig/early Keith) is my favorite era, 77 does go down easy, and the "Betty board" tapes are legendary for their quality and mix. My favorite "Lazy Lightning > Supplication" hails from 6/8/77, but one of my favorite sets from the 2nd half of the 70s is 6/9/76: it opens with the first "St. Stephen" in five years into an "Eyes of the World" that'll change your life. 3/29/90 might be my favorite "Box of Rain." According to my iTunes play count, my most listened to song is "Hard to Handle" from 4/28/71, and it's a monster. And finally, I'm not familiar with that show, so archive.org, here I come!

On a side note, I haven't been keeping up with the guys, but if I had to guess, I'd say Bill had the best odds of being based, but I wouldn't put money on it.

I'll check those out. The archive is a great tool. I'm familiar with that version of Hard to Handle. I bet I've listened to that a 100x. The climax and then back into the groove is on point. Jamming to Fire on the Mountain 12/31/78 Winterland right now. Bill strikes me as a guy that you might f around and find out with.

Crap, forgot to mention when perusing their live music archive, I was surprised to see Ween on page one, as I took great pains to sneak my recording rig in to a show of theirs in the early 90s. Came out muddy as the mic was on the floor to the rear of the club. And extra surprised to see Max Creek so close to the top, as they were among the first of many shows I saw at the Wetlands in NY. They might have been opening for Phish, Blues Traveller or the Spin Doctors, or headlining. Most of those evenings were fairly hazy, but I don't recall ever not having a great time there. And special shout out to The Mother Hips 'cause I saw them on page two.

The Mother Hips! Now that's a band I know. I'm a fan of Tim Bluhm's wife too. There are some decent Leftover Salmon shows I dove into recently on the archive as well. Did you ever get into the Lowell George stuff from the Shakedown Street sessions? Would've loved to see that guy in the band. Pigpen 2.0.

RE: HtH: kek you gut that right, not to mention it has one of my many favorite bubbly Phil grooves just before Bobby's solo, which by the way is prima facie evidence that "rhythm guitarist" is a false title. 2nd favorite HtH version is 8/6/71, but my iTunes play count for the Fillmore version is at 58, alas cassette tapes don't keep track, God knows why I still have so many hundreds, including masters, as I haven't played one in ages.

RE: Bill: well said. I've actually given it some thought in the last 24 hours, and I know Mickey might seem to be the most hippy-ish of the bunch, I'd put him as second most likely, but again, wouldn't put any money on it.
